Anyone know if there'll be a spring exhibition? Anyway, if there is a spring exhibition, that'll be the first time we get to see Jolie Rasmussen and Kyra Hanawahine in the lineup. It'll be: OH1 - Jolie Rasmussen OH2 - Trinity Castaneda OPP - Kirsten Sibley/McKenna Ross S - Norene Iosia MH1 - Skyler Williams MH2 - Kamuela Krug L - Rika Okino DS - Janelle Gong, Kyra Hanawahine Wait! Who's Kamuela? Never heard of him. LOL. He’s from the Big Island. 😉

Hey guys, I just received a PM that Trinity Castaneda is listed on the transfer portal. This is not my info. I have no access to that portal so I can’t confirm this nor can I vouch for the veracity of the poster who PM’ed me. Those with access should check and get back to the Wahine ohana on this forum. Also, this may be the first time I’ve used the word “ohana.”

I think Hawai'i is the favorite next year, regardless of TVW returning. But Long Beach has some serious talent coming in 2020 with Mia Tuaniga (she will be the best setter in the conference by far, and Williams, who has phenomenal athletic potential). I think that's when coaching will come into play--may the best woman win. In 2020, Hawai’i got Kate Lang coming in. Pretty excited to see what she brings. You Hawai'i fans will like Lang. I have watched her several times and she is going to do well at Hawai'i. She is a really smart setter, plays great defense, and is very competitive. Her TAV 17s team is a top team in Texas and US.

Competition is great and all but I like what I've seen of Okino and Gong. Okino has been a fantastic digger even though her passing is okay (not great, not bad). I haven't seen Gong pass but her defensive play is good, what little I've seen. Who knows. Hanawahine may end up third on the depth chart.

Or Hanawahine going bust out and be like her former Kamehameha alum(Tita Akiu) and seize the starting job. I'm not sold on Okino and Gong. Okino I have more confidence but Gong was an OH in HS and I'm not sure she sure was a passing OH. Never saw much of Gong's passing in her high school highlights. Kyra faced top notch level practices at Oregon and that could be something that she have over Okino and Gong. Imagine facing the likes of Ronika Stone, Lindsey Van Weide, Willow Johnson, and Teylor Agost day in day out. At UH, we have McKenna Granato and that is probably it...as far as players that can pound the heck out of the ball.

Trinity might be feeling like odds are stacked against her. Firstly, she was a Shoji recruit so she never really signed on to play for Robyn. Secondly, Robyn will be bringing in many of her own players and these players will probably get the majority of the reps and given a better chance to play. Most of the girls coming in are much more heralded and have more solid HS careers than Trinity.
I really hope she stays and battle but would understand if she decided to move one. Trinity is in a situation similar to that of Jolie Rasmusen when she transferred from Oregon........too much talent in front of her and wants a chance to play more.
Riley Wagoner....UA All American second team....Ohio Player of the year...won MVP at a Jr. tournament a couple years ago. ......Al State in volleyball and basketball.
Jolie Rasmussen....2 times HM PAC 12......started a few games her freshman year at UO.....Senior Aces #20.
Hanna Hellvig.... Swedish National team.....accomplished beach player.
All 3 above are 6;rotation players. Unfortunately, Trinity is not. If you are only a 3 rotation player, you better show something special or else you will be very limited on your role with the team.

I wouldn’t compare Trinity and Jolie necessarily. Jolie is a star. She would start at Oregon next year easily. She was just injured this year and didn’t get to play. She’ll easily be OH1 for us this upcoming season.

All this talk of Jolie Rasmussen's star status and I have to say, I'd never heard of her until the transfer. But then again, I've never heard of a lot of top talent. If she was a lock to start at Oregon, why did she transfer?

If she was a lock to start at Oregon, why did she transfer? Maybe she doesn’t like the coach. I believe she committed when Jim Moore was coaching there. She might have been a “lock”; to start at UO but she probably wouldn’t be the go to player like she will be for the Wahine when the women’s season starts. Speaking of Jolie....saw her at the men’s game tonight. She even look like a stud physically.
