If a scholarship player enters their name onto the transfer portal, is their current school still on the hook for their scholarship until they actually transfer out? I’m thinking yes.

Almost every spring exhibition has included graduated seniors from the previous season. So I would not be surprised to see any of the recently graduated players to step in if need be. Anyone confirmed if the indoor team went up to USC and Baylor for pre season matches this past weekend? if so know the results?

Hmm...if I was a betting man, I would say no because I saw Norene at the SSC over the weekend at the volleyball matches and the basketball games. If the team went, they went without Norene.

I don't think UH wvb would go to a spring tournament on the mainland without any mention of it on their official UH site. At the very least, Cindy Luis's blog would've mentioned it.

Does any present player be Norene's backup for setting ? wHO SETS THE BALL WHEN THEY DO THEIR PACTICES? Right now, I do not think any player is being trained to be Norene's back-up since she is the only setter for the team during their practices. Currently, there is not enough players on the roster to have an A team and a B team, so at practice, I'm pretty sure Norene is the only one setting (although for the spring matches, Maafala might volunteer to help the team if Norene is struggling with any injuries). I think it is best for us to be patient at this time for Norene's back-up setter. There is around 6 months till the start of the next season, so there is still plenty of time to pick-up a setter to back-up Norene (making the assumption that no other setter coming in will be able to compete with Norene for the starting spot).

I don't think the lack of a second setter for spring practices is a problem. Heck, I'm sure Kaleo Baxter, Faith Ma'afala, Nick Castello, and of course, RAMS herself can fill in. I don't think spring season is about chemistry but more about repetitions to improve skills.

I’m sure Robyn can find a few bodies willing to scrimmage.
Varsity Norene ....S. McKenna Ross...OH. Rasmussen...OH. Kirsten ...OPP. Kamalei....MB. Skyler....MB. Okino....L.
Team USA
Robyn....S Kaleo....OH Janelle....OH Nick....OPP Angelica.....MB Kamalei/Sklyer(whomever not on the floor with the varsity) Kyra.....L
See.....there is potential to scrimmage and replicate game like situations but I agree that spring is a chance for players to increase their vertical, improve their strength and work on individual skills.
Jolie and Kyra transfers really helped to make the spring more meaningful. Without them and the lost of Howling and Castaneda, UH would have only 7 players to work with.

In addition to the Spring match with Texas on March 22, they are playing at Pepperdine on March 30. Currently 8 players are in practice. Kamalei Krug just had surgery on her knee. They'll most likely add to the team a few graduating Seniors.

Has there ever been a time when a player from the opposing team played on your team during a spring exhibition? Or would this be illegal under NCAA rules?

We lost Sophia Howling due to transfer. I guess Sarah Liva would get to continue to play a few more matches before calling it a career or maybe even Casey.

It's a Spring match so Hawaii could leave Williams in all rotations as a middle, if they can't have another graduating Senior middle to join them.
