Most powerful swing by Fitz right there.
I guess Rich Feller got it right. A faster set to Fitz is much better.

Stanford was blah today...
Arizona's defense was very impressive, however.

Credit to Arizona, they made Stanford looked average.
Arizona was superb in serve-receive and defense. I’ve raved about their setting before and will say it again, Patterson is very underrated as a setter. And they have a couple of very athletic middles.
They will definitely make some noise in the conference if they continue to play likw that.

Watched some of the early to mid-match. UA is Way improved; Arizona's defense reminds me, somewhat, of bruins' D a year ago w/ Sponcil. Good comeback in the second set! Much to improve upon.

We have one or two of these matches each year it seems, usually early in conference. A sleepy Sunday noon match, probably didn't get as up for it as usual. Still, we took care of business. We built on some things; and because we struggled in some areas, we will be more focused in practice and know exactly some things we need to work on. That can be a positive.
Other positives: Formico was great at the service line. No errors, two aces, many tough serves, and a few long stretches on her serve.
We hit .246, while holding Arizona to .147. We focused our D on Dahlke, their best hitter, and held her to .022. Meghan was as crafty as ever, finding ways to get it done, with 10 kills, hitting for .292. Audriana contributed 10 kills for .304. Even when it seems Plummer is not "on," she still leads all players with 21 kills at .273. That is, over 5 kills per set on an "off" day. Not many players average 5 kills on good days.
Arizona served tough. Plus we helped them with 3 or 4 WTF touches on balls that were clearly going out. We also served tough though.
Holly continues to progress. 6 blocks, and closing the block better and more consistently each match. Tami was also great on the block. However, a really off day offensively. A couple low sets by Jenna. But mostly, Tami went back to being very late to her spots offensively. As Jenna is setting the ball, Tami is nowhere close to offering her a target, and is usually just about to jump as Jenna is setting, which forces Jenna to guess where to set it. Tami should just look at video of Inky: always up in the air, arm cocked back, presenting a great target just as setter is about to set the ball.
Anyway, nothing to hang our heads about. I expect we will be much more energized for the upcoming matches against the LA schools.
