i thought "chat me up" was slang for "hit on me". i was born in iowa city BTW The wrestling podcaster Conrad Thompson often says "Chat me up," when he wants long answers from his guests. So I stole it from him, I guess. You're all welcome to hit on me if you would like. It's not going to get you anywhere, but don't let that stop you.

This was an accident, but if you can't do the kicks safely or "fake-ily" then maybe you shouldn't be doing them.

James T. Kirk is from Iowa. I think you should say he will be from Iowa in a few hundred years.

James T. Kirk is from Iowa. The only reason I know this is because of the movie Fanboys.

Today is the first day which felt like autumn/winter instead of autumn/summer.
Much colder temps with a strong breeze.

First time I went the USAV junior nationals, I met a team from lake Okoboji, sat with them for a day, really nice folks and friendly. Good kids and parents and huge. They were pretty tall for their day, more than four or five six footers.

Never heard of Lake Okoboji before. According to Wikipedia there are two of them. With a third lake they make up "Iowa's Great Lakes". (That last bit is more than a little over the top -- the lake I grew up next to is bigger than all three of them combined and we don't go around calling it a "Great Lake". But I guess if you are in Iowa you have to take what you can get.)

My name is Doug. I live in Lincoln, NE but grew up 90 miles west of here in Grand Island (GI). Grand Island's most famous inhabitant would have to be Henry Fonda. GI is also known for the bizarre outbreak of tornadoes that occurred in 1980 which were the impetus for the book and made for television movie NIGHT OF THE TWISTERS. From Wikipedia; Over a span of three hours on the evening of June 3, 1980, a slow-moving supercell complex moving across Grand Island, Nebraska, spawned several tornadoes. The resulting outbreak was one of the most unusual in United States history: The supercells moved over the city at only 8 mph (13 km/h); of the seven tornadoes, three of them were anticyclonic; and the tornadoes did not move in a straight line, with most looping back over their own path at least once. My favorite sports team is the Husker Volleyball Team. Because of the incredibly self-centered attitude of so many of their athletes, I have become less and less of a fan of professional team sports. I root for the Red Sox because one of my brother's best friends from college is one of the owners. I root for the GB Packers as I have some great friends who are from Wisconsin and huge fans. I root for any team that is playing whatever team LeBron James happens to be playing on at the time. My favorite all-time athletes are Muhammad Ali, Stefanie Graf and Secretariat. My least favorite sports franchise/player is the University of Texas and Serena Williams. My favorite pro sport and sport I most like to play would be tennis. I've run one marathon with plans to run two more; one to qualify for Boston and then Boston. After than I am done with the 26.2 distance. I've learned it's much easier to train to run fast than to run far. I have run one sub 40 minute 10k. I grew up around animals with my mother raising and training Papillons and my father's side involved in the thoroughbred horse racing industry. I've rarely gambled on the horses because I know too much about them, but I do enjoy playing poker. My favorite group; The Beatles, book; THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, author; C.S. Lewis, movie; The Wizard Of Oz. I rarely read fiction preferring books that will expand my knowledge. I also have a keen interest in photography and tie-dye. I don't use Rit but fiber reactive dye which result of much more vibrant colors that don't fade any quicker than factory died garments. Hit me up if you'd like me to make something for you! I have a bachelors degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Health & Physical Education. Among other endeavors, I've worked as a Treatment Technician at a group home for juvenile sex-offenders, Activity Specialist at a minimum security prison, Site Supervisor for youth playground program, Youth Program/Adult Leagues Coordinator at a fitness club and Doggie Day Care Manager/Therapeutic Swimming Coordinator at a boarding kennel. I once smoked grass with Jerry Mathers; aka The Beaver. The absolute best and smartest act I will ever do in my life is marry my wife of 30 years. I took the idea of "marrying up" to an entirely new level. Today would have been her 54th birthday but she was taken to heaven this past July after a 16 month fight with cancer which brings me to my present reality which is simply trying to keep my head above water. I've often wondered what some of you look like. I've met a few of you and seen photos of a few others. Not that anyone gives a rats bottom, but I included a photo of my wife Patty and myself along with our two dogs. Grant is a 8 yr old Border Collie named after the person on the $50 bill he cost me. Jack is a 3 yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback named after C.S. Lewis. I'll leave it to you to research how that makes sense. Speaking of Lake Okoboji, the pic of Patty and me was taken at a boat museum in Arnolds Park which is on the shore of West Lake Okoboji where my brother and his wife own a home and live six months of out of the year. Today is the first day which felt like autumn/winter instead of autumn/summer. Much colder temps with a strong breeze. We have snow in western Nebraska and very chilly temperatures. I hate it frankly and look forward to the day I can live Jan, Feb, and March near the southern coast somewhere. I apologize about sending you our weather. I love Iowa and the people that live there. Great state. Thanks for sharing.

James T. Kirk is from Iowa. Speaking of famous people from Iowa, (this time real ones), is John Wayne and Aston Kutcher from Iowa?
