Agree with various posters here that we definitely need the 2nd setter and a legit libero to replace Tita after this season. My wish for the 2nd setter is that she is taller and sets quick to the pins, not so tight to the net..and if I can be greedy here, has some decent blocking and serving ability. Yeah. Greedy. Those types of setters usually end up in the Power 5 conferences. <iframe width="25.40000000000009" height="6.0800000000000125" style="position: absolute; width: 25.40000000000009px; height: 6.0800000000000125px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_13292945" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="25.40000000000009" height="6.0800000000000125" style="position: absolute; width: 25.4px; height: 6.08px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1208px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_26384449" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="25.40000000000009" height="6.0800000000000125" style="position: absolute; width: 25.4px; height: 6.08px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 241px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_15122270" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="25.40000000000009" height="6.0800000000000125" style="position: absolute; width: 25.4px; height: 6.08px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1208px; top: 241px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_33620195" scrolling="no"></iframe> They're not that common in the PAC12 either. (Gray. Maybe Lazaro. Anyone else?) I don't think they are in the B!G (Poulter and Hilley but is there anyone else) or any of the conferences. But if you're dreaming, you may as well dream large.

Okay I gotta get off the weed, if we secure a setter as described, she probably wouldn't be the 2nd setter would she? lol

Cause Robyn can always fall back on the offense she ran this year.

If RAMS don't have a second setter, for back up, and this is just saying, Norene, having a rough night, do you keep her in or do you go to your sub setter???

I will be shocked if Robyn does not bring in another setter for next year. That setter has to be a legit one, not one that did it once in a while. Not so much if Norene has an off night, but more so, in case she is injured, god forbid.

What legit setter is going to transfer to Hawaii to sit on the bench? Also, wasn't there talk somewhere that the 2018 season would be the only time Iosia would be asked to hit?
If I were a legit setter, my response would be "Screw you, Hawaii," unless I can get genuine assurances that I'll either start or see significant playing time. I'm not even sure I want to share the position with Iosia in a 6-2. But I can be selfish.

Be it at the D1, DII, DIII, or JC, level. I am quite sure Robyn can find someone at one of those levels, who is willing to transfer to Hawaii.

I just hope all is good next year for the team. Volleyball is a team sport, not a one person sport. The team comes before the individual. When Higgins was the setter, and Norene came into Uh. Higgins got pushed to the sideline. I know it's not fair, but that's how it goes. The best plays.

If Choy is truly unhappy at Utah, as some have suggested, I can see her being willing to run a 6-2 with Iosia. They usually run a 6-2 at Utah so it wouldn't be that different for her. But, as others have said, having two setters who both graduate in 2019 isn't ideal. I know they have Lang coming in 2020 but what if she doesn't work out well, for whatever reason. Unless Lang can come a semester early, you also have no setter continuity for the hitters.
Ideally, you'd have a sophomore or junior transfer for next season, preferably coming in next semester. I wouldn't turn down Bailey Choy if she wanted to transfer to Hawaii, though. All programs deal with less than ideal situations. Constantly.

I'm kind of wary of stating, "from experience", since the VT-"police" are out there: but screw it! Coaches and recruiters have a double-edged sword, anyway. There Are NO guarantees within the Real World of recruiting; we were always trying to hedge-our-bets with quantity (plus desired quality) & timing. Contingencies. NOTHING'S for sure.

SharRae Nui is making her move imo. Keep an eye on her. She went to Hilo, was to have gone to Salt Lake City, and ended up at EWU.
at 5'6" it could go either way.
Team finished third at the HHSAA Division I state tournament. 1st Team all-OIA/1st Tam all-State/Durango Fall Classic All-Tournament. Hawaii State HS BVB Champion. Haili WVB AA all-Tourney selection (her UHH team beat Kanani's Ahuna's and Olevao's team for 1st).

Choy is wishful thinking for now. UH coaches have not reached out to her, that is tampering/ illegal. The new transfer rule just went into effect [this month] so athletes that desire to transfer don’t need permission from their current school anymore.

To The Natural, have you heard anything concerning Robyn possibly bringing in a JC Setter for 2019?

There have got to be some setters out there that are unhappy with their current situation and wouldn’t mind spending their last two years playing and living in Hawaii and a chance to perform in front of big crowds.....even if they are not assured of a starting role.
If Robyn was to put out a call for a setter, I’m certain there would be a big pool of candidates. Robyn herself is a former Olympic setterr so that could help in drawing some potential good setters.
