I highly doubt there is any plan to move Amber out of the middle. With Hanna, Jolie, Brook, and Riley there is no need to move her out especially with Braelyn and Tiff as options on the outside as well. I think Akana will be on the outside next season I think she could be like a Ross.

An amazing thing about this season (other than the high flying freshman) is the progression of walk on players like Ross and Okino who played sparingly for years. Even after seeing more court time this season due to key injuries, their play for much of the season was pretty abysmal. But in recent weeks, wow! It's like night and day. Kudos to these players for deciding to elevate their game to a higher level. Their vast improvement has helped get us this far.

McKenna Ross has grown more and more confident, especially this season. You can see from the close-ups that after a kill (or an error), she mutters the f-word under her breath. But it's not a I-hate-myself kind of f-word but more like I-hate-you kind of f-word. This is a change in self-confidence from Why-can't-I-do-this-correctly to I-am-going-to-f***ing-rip-your-throat-out.

If there is not a Bailey Choy, or better, type of setter out there who wants to transfer, it would not surprise, or even shock me if Robyn has BVS take the roll of Iosia, as an Outside Hitter/Setter. To that point, I am thinking BVS will be the Setter during the Spring practice season.

I recall when Saige decommited from her first school, people on this board said she was not a good fit for Hawaii. I'm curious, what is different now than a year or so ago? What school did she decommit from?

Would I want to spend the entire match looking up at the ceiling or firing balls at my target?

If Amber serves the ball to the bottom of the net like she did against San Diego, she's fired. So sensitive, lol.....

So how did Wagoner fare in year one? Passing = A- Digging = B+ Hustle = A Court Awareness = A Hitting = C- (D+) If Wagoner can hit, there's no way Ah Mow will keep her off the court. It's not just about power as I think Wagoner demonstrated she can hit with some heat. It's about court vision, shot placement, shot selection, and that extra oomph in her shots that players like Brooke Van Sickle, Jolie Rasmussen, Hanna Hellvig, and McKenna Ross seem to have. I mean, Wagoner's shots have been dug time and time again by opponents really easily. Right now, current Hawaii starting hitters are waaay above Wagoner. Even McKenna Ross. I was not very high on Ross but in the second half of the season, she came through and hit with authority and confidence, something missing in Wagoner's game. Ross also made All Big West (Honorable Mention), no small feat given she's only 5'10. There's talk of moving Tiffany Westerberg and Braelyn Akana to the outside, but I'll believe it when I see it. I question the ball control abilities of Westerberg and Akana. No way they're better than Wagoner. But I can see Westerberg and Akana being better hitters. Not sure as they haven't had a lot of reps there during actual matches. But Wagoner is a freshman. She has a huge ceiling. Ah Mow will reward players who will help the team win. I was somewhat opposed to Wagoner getting benched midway through the season but it wasn't a strong opposition as I really wanted someone more terminal at the pins.

It is unfair to Wagoner to compare her to BVS, Rasmussen, and Ross. Cause those 3 players have a lot more D1 experience, and are upper classmen. Need to wait till next year to see how much growth Wagoner does have, after going through Spring practice, and the weight training program. The same can be said for Tiffany Westerberg and Braelyn Akana. Like most coaches say, a player makes the most improvement going from their Freshmen to Sophomore year.

Seems like Wagoner tips more over the net that hitting over the net.... Is it the setter or is it her judgement?

That's kind of alarming as hitting was her MO in HS. You could always tell when she was about to really get a hold of one because she would suspend in midair for a split second before knocking the casing off of the ball.
