Stanford is now four games ahead of WSU, USC and Oregon, five ahead of USC. The Cardinal play their next four matches at home (UC, UU, UO, OSU). If they sweep those (certainly not a given), then they could clinch the conference out-right at WSU on 11/16. Of course, if the other contenders stumble, they could clinch even sooner.
Edited: some how I thought USC was at 7-5, not 8-4. So it is more complicated than I originally stated.

I took a stab at previewing PAC awards. I took a look at conference-only stats so far, and came up with the below lists (with usual slight deference to seniors, as well as the desire to make sure all teams are represented). This is less fun of an exercise since they expanded the teams to 18. The last few HMs could really go in many different directions. Dirige probably doesn't have the stats, but I love her so much I put her in the last spot. The last spot on first team came down to Raskie, Anyse Smith, Woodforde, and Johnson. It was a close call but I think PAC coaches are over completely ignoring setters.
Midseason Awards: POY Plummer STAN COY Greeney WSU (could also be Hambly) SOY Gray STAN LOY Hentz STAN FOY Lazaro USC (this one is close)
All-PAC Midseason First Team ARIZ Dahlke COLO Smith (Alexa) COLO Abu OREG Vander Weide OREG Raskie OREG Stone STAN Plummer STAN Fitzmorris STAN McClure STAN Gray STAN Alade STAN Hentz UCLA May USC Lanier USC Botkin UTAH Drews WASH Bajema WSU Mims
All-PAC HM ARIZ Patterson ASU Ford CAL Anderson COLO Smith (Anyse) OREG Johnson OREG Nuneviller OSU Goings UCLA Gates UCLA Muno USC Baptista USC Gross USC Lazaro WASH Dreschsel WASH Sanders WSU Lajos WSU Martin WSU Woodford WSU Dirige
All-Freshman Team CAL Forte COLO Smith (Anyse) OREG Nuneviller STAN Campbell USC Lazaro WASH Powell UTAH Evans

When was the last time, 12 games into conference play, that WSU was in 2nd place? Maybe in the mid 90's -- didn't WSU have a great player named Samantha Silvernail?

Sarah Silvernail - my favorite name of volleyball players And she was married to Jerritt Elliott. I hope she had the sense not to change her name- I mean, it's no Ariel Salvo or Maggie Midgette, but Sarah Elliott? Bleah.
