What was a bit disappointing was neither K-Rob nor Larson were an offensive threat doing this match. Would like to see some of the USA OH be more terminal. Larson has been struggling with a foot injury. K-Rob hasn't really been an offensive threat all season long. And K-Rob also isn’t an OH anymore for Team USA.

Different thread, but similar topic: De Kruijf led the match in points in Conegliano's match against Monza yesterday. She had I think 21 points with 6 kill blocks. Talk about using a middle! That doesn't seem entirely usual though, but speaks to the depth of Conegliano for sure.

Boy am I glad that there's only one Wolosz and that she plays for a national team without elite pin hitters.

Kim Hill is not an elite pin hitter as we see every year with the USNT. However with the right setter and the right scheme she can be very very good. Her move from Vakif to playing full time and teaming with Woloz and Santarelli has liberated her game

Yeah USA’s system ain’t doing any of our girls any favors. It’s truly a shame. What a waste of talent.

Her move from Vakif to playing full time and teaming with Woloz and Santarelli has liberated her game I think that's a bit harsh on Kim (and I do recognize you're a fan). I think her club history shows that she in fact is a top 10 OH at the time. In recent years, we've seen a fall in the amount of truly great all around outsides. Their are few girls, if any, that are consistent in reception but also lead their teams. Zhu, Mihajlovic, and Natalia are all better attackers, Larson, Gabi, and Piccinnini all better receivers, but I think Kim Hill keeps getting these great contracts and awards because she does both well (if a bit inconsistently). All this is to say, if Kimberly Hill isn't considered and elite OH, there are probably only 5 elite OH in the world left.

Ecz had no answer for Karakurt today from what I could tell while watching at work. They also passed pretty poorly. It’s tough to beat Vakifbank when Zhu, Karakurt, and Robo are all playing well.

I know it's maybe the halfway point, but here's a live stream ECZ vs. VFK:

Robo's free ball bump-kill completely changed the 2nd set around. The Turkish liberos are terrible lately.
