What do you expect from them? In my opinion this is going to take a while to correct. no matter who is at the helm. How did this gem of the volleyball world sink to these depths?

After reading these posts, I went and watched the Nebraska game on BTN+. Why so much negativity and calls for people's jobs after only one weekend? UCLA lost the starting setter and had to scramble the line up to play two top ranked teams. That's a lot to ask of any team during the season opener. I agree, that the middles looked frazzled, and the only gun (who IS better than last year)still lost too many points in the back row. If they can't regroup by conference play, then let them have it. In my opinion (not that anyone asked), May needs to move to the right where she is lethal and can help with that block. I thought they gave up too many points and bad passes for a couple BIC's. I think Chang looked very athletic and just needs to know that her rope is longer, so she can relax and better the 2 balls she's going to get most of the time. Setters at this level should be able to force the middle more anyway. They need to play better defense for sure. So many diggable balls were lost. It was painful to watch. I remember last year they had Simo as Libero for the pass and they finally stuck with the better defender, Muno. Hopefully, they find the right mix earlier this season. Sealy has a very capable assistant in Pendergast who should be able to improve the defense. Sealy has 12 weeks to sink or swim Right now ...

I agree, and think this is a three year turnaround. This year accomplishes the objective of getting Sealy fired. The next two are for the new coach to get the team back into the sweet 16. Then years 3-4 to get back into the elite 8 and semis.

I watched the Nebraska UCLA match, in all fairness to your program, with the exception of a very few teams, the Cornhuskers would make most teams look bad in Devaney Center. They just don't lose at home. What is the old adage, if you can't beat em, hire away their assistant coach?

UCLA was by far the worst team in the grouping of four teams (Baylor, Creighton, Nebraska & UCLA) playing in Lincoln last weekend. That would have been unthinkable not that long ago.

When is his contract up? It depends on that too. If he’s got 2 hrs left on his contract they’ll just ride it out.

I think this doesn't take into account how much the rest of the nation is catching up to the elite storied programs. Creighton would have been the expected winner every year of the last 3 years. Baylor this year is just playing great ball, just as they did at the end of last year. You can't ride on your laurels in today's game, and some programs are getting woke up to that reality...ask Penn State and Washington.

However, I think you are overlooking the key phrase in my post: "by far the worst team". UCLA was clearly outclassed by both Baylor and Nebraska. IMO Creighton would have also defeated them fairly handily. While some of this is attributable to improvements in the Baylor and Creighton programs in recent years, a bigger factor is the obvious regression in the UCLA program since the 2011 season.
