Never forget Sealy Ulmered the best opposite and setter he ever had. Are you referring to Miller? She even isn’t playing right now.

Are you referring to Miller? She even isn’t playing right now. Isn't she still hurt? Miller still hasn’t traveled with the team. I watched the MN/WI game and she wasn’t dressed and was still wearing earplugs. It’s a sad senior senior for her for sure.

br]I still can't believe Mosser is playing. Let Harrer play to see if she can get anything going for the team. I'm just happy with Simo's role this season. It makes me wonder why she wasn't used in this role more last year, especially in place of Mosser. I look at Simo’s season as a big middle finger to the doubters and I love it!!!

The passing needs to improve. May and Barry have struggled. They need to get the middles involved. Ryan gets her share but Smith rarely ever get sets. Yes, the passing needs to improve in order for the middles to get involved, but even when the passing is good, they are choosing to set the outsides instead. Stop subbing in Savage, especially when Smith isn't even getting sets to hit. I still can't believe Mosser is playing. Let Harrer play to see if she can get anything going for the team. I'm just happy with Simo's role this season. It makes me wonder why she wasn't used in this role more last year, especially in place of Mosser. 100% to all of this. Simo didn't play OH last year because she was dealing with back issues, which she's still dealing with but to a lesser degree this year. I can't remember what match it was the announcers said it, but they were discussing how strong Simo was in 2017 when she came in for Mosser against Cal Poly but was unable to perform in that role last year because of her back. I completely agree -- stop pulling Smith who has been their best blocker and rarely gets set. She's also a defensively strong middle who digs and sets balls when they're out of the reach of anyone else. I also agree that Harrer needs to be on the court instead of Mosser. I think the only reason Mosser gets her time is because she passes in a few rotations that May is back row. It's a silly reason -- May is a 6-rotation OH, make her pass all 6 especially since she needs the reps -- but I guarantee that passing and maybe her blocking is what keeps her off the bench. I don't know how to solve the Barry situation. There are games when she's really on and others where she can't handle it. Problem is Hinkle isn't a solid collegiate passer yet. Would love to see Aigner-Swesey get a look at least as DS. I remember her being somewhat decent last year; maybe not libero ready yet but she's good defensively.

If he hasn’t done it this year, I don’t think she’ll sit her senior season. I look at Simo’s season as a big middle finger up and I love it!!! Yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens with Mosser next year. Ndiaye and Jacobs come in and with Hadrych doing well this year, someone will not be playing.

I would also like to see Harrer get more time over Mosser. Although, I disagree with the Hinkle comment. Barry is awful and I think Hinkle’s done well coming off the bench cold to pass. I think they should give her more opportunities to develop. You aren’t ranked that high out of prep if you can’t pass. Plus, the girl does not back down. I love a defender who throws their body in front of the ball and doesn’t bail out. The future is with her, so they should give her more time. Aigner-Swesey is just another Barry. I would also love to see them set Smith more. Lexi Hadrych is just going to get better, so next season is looking good!! Hopefully, Sealy can get rid of the momentum busting double sub and let Chang run the 5-1. May and Hadrych on the outside with Ryan and Smith (Light or Dodson) in the middle. Plus, some competition on the right side for Mosser may pay dividends. I think 2020 will be fun year to be a Bruin fan!!

How will UCLA finish this season? I think we need to dump Mosser and play it out.

OK. Season's over. Keller bought Sealy the last year of his contract.
Will Keller stick around for Sealy's last year in hopes he'll be offered the HC job next December?

The reason Hinkle plays is because she's marginally better than Barry defensively with an 81% dig success rate compared to 76% for Barry but neither are converting their digs into good balls for the setters at a decent rate. And, as I'm sure you all know, neither serves well. Truth is, after a lot of swings (and a lot of misses) UCLA still don't have a quality Libero on their roster. Imo it's the biggest weakness for the team. I agree that the Libero position was one of the weak links this season. I don’t think it’s logical to compare the hundreds of passes of Barry to a couple dozen balls by a freshman coming off the bench. I thought the only way you could see team analytics was if you were a coach/player of the team. Maybe this has changed. Although, I know from the past that internal serve receive stats are more accurate. I can’t tell you how many times passes were assigned to people who didn’t even play or not assigned correctly after a Libero change. I ’m sure they’ll figure out the Libero situation. IMO, serve receive wasn’t the biggest issue anyway. It was the lack of a consistent block (which would improve the dig conversion that you mentioned) and the need for a strong Opp.

According to the pro analytics site Vollymetrics, Barry has passed badly and Hinkle has been worse. Hinkle is at 1.95 on the 3 point scale. That's not just bad, it's awful. Good Liberos will be around 2.35. UCLA has an outstanding Libero on their roster. But, they used her to play OH.
