This should not have happened. 642fiddi predicted that Poly will make it to the Sweet Sixteen. He called it himself! i know way to much about being a loser to ever make a prediction like that. nice try though.

Cal Poly should be good next year. Phillips & Mercer give them two solid middles, a lot depends on how their frosh setter progresses over the summer. Yes, they lose AVW, but she wasn't the straw that stirred the drink. Brouker is a loss. If Poly can get a solid libero, they could be very good again. Right now, they have to be the favorite for next year. Brouker will be a loss but I think you're underestimating the importance of a good OH1. Excellent middles are important but, for most teams, not nearly as important as a good OH1. Sure, they can be if you have Rettke or Inky or someone of that caliber (as well as excellent passing) but I don't think Cal Poly's middles are. Even Wisconsin was having trouble against good teams when they were relying too much on Rettke. If you are going to rely on your middles, good passing will be even more critical than if you have other good options. If you can get a team out of system, the middles don't matter (for hitting). I'm not underestimating the graduation of AVW. IT's just AVW has never been any sort of dominant OH. In fact this year her hitting #s were down (while TVWs were markedly up). AVW can be really streaky. Yes, Cal Poly will have a new OH, and the degree of their success depends on that. I just don't see why one would simply annoint Hawaii as the favorite when you look at a number of strong players Cal Poly has coming back, especially at the setter and middle positions aside from TVW. It's why I think the libero is key because I thinnk #1 is the passing for Poly to replace Brouker & AVW

I want to see how all their new recruits play before I even guess how Hawaii will do. I also want to see more of Krug and Casteneda. It's nice to win the BWC but that shouldn't be the biggest goal for Cal Poly or Hawaii. If the BWC is going to be relevant again, they need teams to get to the Elite 8. I don't see that for CP next season but I haven't seen their new recruits.

Whatever happened to TVW? She was at the match, in her sweats, but she did not play?

I find it incredible that these ladies can still play with the swarm of bees that have filled up the Galen center. Also I just heard that USC are now banned from hosting any future 1st & 2nd rounds of the NCAA tournament till they can get a stream with the size of at least 640x360. No more of this 736x414 size. Id rather watch this match from the Wooden Center stream. Either stop watching USC on TV or go to the match's in person.

Either Cal Poly is way over-rated or USD is way under-rated.

Either Cal Poly is way over-rated or USD is way under-rated. Or you just aren’t processing the fact that they were without their best player

Missing One player should not have had cast such a pall over the team. USD played a good match, Cal Poly just could not get it going.
