Keegan's biggest mistake since taking over the reigns for Washington was not redshirting Bajema in 2017. I don't know; his idea of shoehorning Scambray into the libero role was pretty bad. Besides, when it comes to redshirts, you never know if a player has told the coach, "Redshirt or not, I intend to graduate and leave in four years". I don't know about that, Tia has settled in nicely as a libero overseas. I thought moving Jones back and forth from MB to OH was his biggest mistake.

She is NOT the libero with the pro team. Last year she got the most points scored in the Swiss league. Amanda Benson is the libero in her team this season.

Oh, well that makes sense if you have an Amanda Benson on your team then Benson will be the libero. Tia's facebook page has her in the libero jersey and in the playoffs. It must be old. Regardless, wasn't that the year Dehoog finally got healthy (and had an AA year), and they had Schwan, Bajema and Jones at pins and somewhat of a hole at libero? If I remember, didn't Scambray make all pac as libero (HM behind Hentz)? She was a stud. Like I said before, I always thought Jones was the biggest issue with this team. Dehoog and Bajema had near career nights against all everything Poulter in a 5 set loss this year. And Schwan just came off of an AA year.

Keegan Cook, is one of those rare coaches that is totally committed to his players. He believes in his recruits and team chemistry and makes the most of his girls. Has he had anyone that has transferred?

Has he had anyone that has transferred? Like probably most people, I was concerned he wouldn't be able to carry the mantle after JMac departed. But so far so good and I'm so thankful to be proven wrong for once.

Keegan's biggest mistake since taking over the reigns for Washington was not redshirting Bajema in 2017. Then he would have one less scholarship available next year. And you never know if a player gets hurt sometime during their career and you'll need to use it later.

We can go back and rehash everything that happened that year, but it won't change things. 1) I hope people can see now that saying we had "something of a hole at libero" was a drastic over-reaction. I still think Shayne played fine (for a true freshman) at libero in 2016. 2) Bajema had played middle out of necessity in 2016, and as Ay just said could have been redshirted. Jones could have too, maybe? They had too many hitters because the roster was built for a 6-2 but Keegan was transitioning the team back to a 5-1. Jones, Schwan, Dehoog, and Scambray were all seniors and I don't think any of them had redshirted. 3) No one is saying Scambray couldn't play libero, but if they had had Schwan, Scambray, and Dehoog on the outside all year (and healthy) they would have had a ferocious attack. 4) Hazelwood never quite integrated in like we had hoped. 5) They did suffer injury issues, so we'll never know for sure. Considering the injuries and the way the roster was stacked, there may not have been a great outcome no matter what. But they were 29-5, PAC-12 champs, and into the regional finals in 2016. With basically the exact same players in 2017 (plus some added), they were 25-8 and went one round less deep into the tournament. I continue to think Keegan meddled too much.

Her and Bajema would have been a nice set of pins last year.

I've said it before: he should have bit the bullet and started Bajema from the start her sophomore year. As to her freshman year, he had a hole at MB that needed to be filled.

I believe Bailey and Dehoog had first year redshirts because of injuries. Yes, Keegan did meddle too much. I also thought Scambray had the hardest time hitting high. Sure she had some great games against shorter teams, but come playing the big teams her percentages plummeted. Hindsight is 20-20! Also, it's difficult to compare teams based on records from y-to-y. The dynamics of the league change so much and injuries can severely impact a team.

In some ways, Tia's most important attribute as a Husky hitter was that she never stopped being aggressive. The Huskies have had too many really good players over the years that would shy away from hitting after being blocked a few times. Tia didn't care if she had been blocked the last ten times in a row -- she would still hit away.

She had some unbelievable knock-down drag-out matches, especially against Hawaii. I just think the height of Dehoog, Bajema and Jones was a more powerful element against the taller top 10 teams that we were always seemingly losing to. It wasn't just the meddling that was wrong but the timing in which he was making the changes. Seems like changes could have been implemented at the start of the season and not midstream, imo.

That would have changed what? I argue that we didn’t need her that season and if she was open to staying another year we DO need her for 2020.
