Thoughts and pictures from the Baylor game. Holly Rowe was mostly focused on the Baylor side of the story. She sat a few feet behind their bench and when a timeout was called, she would walk up and try to lean in to see if she could hear what the coach was trying to get across to his players. When the sides flipped, she followed along to the other side. And when they were in the long timeout she was waiting to catch their coach coming out of
the locker rooms. Makes sense since the #1 team who'd never been at that ranking and had never won in Austin was the story. To show how important this game was, even the person I call the "LHN-lady" who is on headset with the producers and lets the officials know when the broadcast is coming off of commercial and back to the game. She dressed up! Even a necklace! And the Bear fans were....uhhhh, stunned
Thoughts on the game: 1) I've never seen a Texas team serve so well 2) Starting in the second set, Baylor's receive reminded me of that phrase "back on their heels". Their bodies seemed to sag backwards when trying to receive a ball 3) Not the loudest I've seen at Gregory, but it was Rockin' 4) I don't memorize faces of the opponents, but when Pressley showed up I went, "Oh yeah, that skinny girl that always seems to just do okay against us" (I say "skinny" as opposed to our muscular OH we tend to have) 5) Their coach seemed to have thrown the white flag about 10 points into the 3rd set. Even some of the folks around me were wondering, "Is he ever going to call a TO to help his team?" 6) The first few errors by Bri, I was thinking "This is a bad sign". And then she ends up at .500. Over-pumped. What do I know? 7) The Minnesota game baby! Never get down on ourselves when we're behind.

Holly was focused on Baylor because Tyler Denning was focused on Texas. At least that's what it seemed like.

i think the corching staff might have a difficult challenge on saturday. the team has to go on the road and play at kansas. i know that kansas is having a down year but Texas will get its best shot.
gotta turn the the page from the last night's emotional high and re-focus.

That's the typical trap game that has nipped Texas in the past. I hope this team is different.

They need to stay focused. Last year, Burse single-handedly beat us and she's gone this year. We have more talent in every position against KU but we still need to execute.

Going to be a busy weekend for Texas: I'm going to attend the softball double-header - high likelihood of wininng. I'm going to tape the TCU game - high likelihood of raising my blood pressure. Pay for a subscription of ESPN+ after reading the final score of the Kansas game - and then bookend the ESPN+ subscription with next month's game in Waco. Then, cancel.

The serving game will be a KEY component in 2020 and 2021 even more. Other teams will emulate it in recruiting. When you see the talents coming in deliver just that piece alone...
The middles will continue to be the key with more powerful slides to add. If you add back row attack then it adds another dimension.
Again, I said it before on why. Serving is an art and the only play in VB that practically becomes uncontested. It's a hit with no blockers after all. Kills are contested by the blockers but consistent ace servers are not. The old thinking no longer fits today's game.
Fun to watch the progression of these games today and future. I've seen too many games recently on high level on how an ace server tilts a game. It kills any good opponents mentally and hypes the team they play on.

Honestly, I don’t think enough has been said about how impressive the maturity of this team has been considering there is 1.5 upperclassmen in the starting 7. It really makes me excited for the rest of this year and the years to come.

the tcu game will be 3+ hours of sheer misery, win or lose. i envision all of us will have to sign up for espn+ eventually so that we can watch away matches.
disney really wants more money from me

I had know idea that they had changed the date of the West Virginia match until they sent the email today. Why did they wait so late to point this out? Not a happy camper.

There is a double-header softball game on Saturday Nov 2 and a double-header softball game on Sunday Nov 3.
The softball team is playing 3 sets of double-headers and two single games for Fall Ball.
Only the double-header on Nov 3 is being televised and on LHN - so you can record it, in theory.
And the volleyball game at the same time is being televised on ESPNU.
Maybe.
