We’ve been down the speculation road before and we all know Elliot is doing to ds the OPP and the other OH. What a shame Texas doesn’t develop 6 rotation players Micaya has improved each year and I think Eggleston will step up her game to be a 6 rotation player as well. Eggleston is already a 6 rotation player.

Mumble, grumble, block new trolls. Totally respect opinions of texasex01, but I'm not sure I agree that Gabriel is on scholarship. I also believe that Westerlund will be transitioned into a medical retirement scholarship. But that's just me, with no insight into the team.

Question for those with more volleyball knowledge than myself.
A while back, Brionne mentioned transitioning from middle to pin. My guess is someone put that bug in her ear. Having seen her play, and her footwork for an entire season, what are the chances that’s a realistic goal for her? With an opening on the right pin, does she get oooks there this spring or next season? Theoretically, if she did successfully transfer to the right, we’d have to start two freshman at middle, and red shirt the #1 recruit (which is becoming kind of a trend, tbh). I’m mostly spitballing here, but my main question is is this a viable option for Brionne, or should she put all of her collegiate and professional eggs in the middle basket?

For Texas it doesnt make sense IMO to put her on the right unless they want to run a 6-2 with two smaller setters and have Agbaji or Phillips as the 2nd middle. They already have two studs in White/Eggleston and are getting the top recruit in Fields. Although if she goes to RS, then the following 2 years Texas could boast a lineup of Eggleston, Fields, and Butler on the pins, O'Neal and Phillips in the middle which would be deadly. Next level as a pro or Olympian, I think she has potential as a RS or middle. I watched her hit outside as a jr player and she absolutely destroyed the ball and looked really comfortable with a longer approach...I have no doubt she'd do well there, but I think she'll be fantastic as a high flying middle. Lateral speed could use work and I think she can become a much better blocker than she is now, but she has all the tools to be great wherever she plays.

If Texas did go to a 6-2 next year I think you would see White and Eggleston as 6 rotation OH, Fields and Butler/Phillips as RS, and O'Neal and Butler/Phillips as MB (that's assuming Butler has interest in moving to RS, or Elliot thinks she is the best option at RS). If Texas stays in a 5-1 then Fields would be the obvious RS with Phillips and Agbaji backing up both RS and MB. If there were to be an injury to one of the OH then Fields would move to OH and Phillips/Agbaji would go to RS. It all comes down to setter options as to what system is utilized IMO.

Wouldn't it be cool to have the feature of whoever started the thread could block one or two users from posting on that thread! LOL Gabriel was not on scholarship in 2018. Westerlund has had a couple surgeries IIRC so that could be a plausible outcome if she is not going to be healthy enough to practice/play in spring 2018, or fall 2019.

With Yazzie leaving, who becomes the leader on this team? She did a lot for this program in 4 years both on and off the court and leaves a bigger hole than her heavy right arm and blocking.

If Butler was able to transition into a great RS (similar to Kelsie Payne) - I would absolutely do it. Especially with O'Neal and the rest of the talent to use in the middle. I think having a strong RS that you don't have to worry about for the next three years would be a huge plus. Why not 'just' let Fields backup her FR year and have her groomed for replacing White in 2020? She provides injury insurance w/o having to move everyone else around - and the way Texas dominates most of the season there should be plenty of opportunity for her to see significant action. Not my team, but finding a strong RS seems harder these days - and having a great one locked in is huge.

During games, she’s too focused on herself and does not communicate much with other players. When she communicates, it’s more one on one. I noticed Logan to be more natural in gathering the team around after every point when she’s in the court.

I'd say Sydney over Logan.

She was hesitant in that BYU game but looked solid the other games.
