Don’t look at Miller’s stats. She played on a bad team this year which lowers her assists, poor serve receive, bad coaching. She was the highest recruited setter of her class and puts the ball and great locations.

OTOH, Carico had a nice season here after problems at USC. Maybe the same thing could happen.

I take it back. Gophers were 2.19 bps in conference. Yuck.

They had different styles. Watch matches from the end of the season, Miller’s play is not holding UCLA back

I have an open mind on this. If she does come to Minnesota, I'll be hoping for the best.

I should be more positive when I post. We do need another setter next year so Miller would be good if the rumor is true. I am a fan of Nielsen also so I think we do have an answer for the setter position.

I think it's great if Miller is indeed coming in (and it sounds like she is). I actually do have faith that Nielsen can get the job done also. My concern would have been if something would happen to Nielsen (injury, sick, whatever) and McMenimen would have to step in. Nothing against McM, but I can't see her role being anything more than maybe a serving specialist as far as playing time goes. This is a good thing!

I see OH Jolie Rasmussen, is also leaving Oregon. Right now that makes two departing ways with them. She is Carly's sister. Could she be considering coming to Minnesota? We were trying to recruit her, at one time. Jolie did visit here, but obviously chose Oregon over the U of MN.
I have no inside information. Just "food for thought". As it stands, we will have 5 OH's and 6 MB's on next year's roster. However, she will be a HUGE get for somebody.

Is Minnesota expecting transfers out of the program?

Minnesota's not short on quality outside hitters and Jolie's going to want to go somewhere she can play for her final season.

Believe she redshirted this past year so she'll have 2 years of eligibility remaining

My concern with Nielsen is both her defense and her ability to turn less than stellar passes into scoring opportunities (setting on the run). In very limited time, I saw that those seemed to be some issues. That being said it's a small enough sample size so I can't say this with confidence. I'd be willing to wager that if Miller is coming in though that she'll be taking the reigns, which would put the ball in Nielsen's court to figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her career.
