Preview:
The 2019 Wolverines will have a significant amount of veteran presence on their roster but a huge challenge figuring out how to replace Carly Skjodt's offensive production. MacKenzi Welsh's value as a senior 4 year starting setter should not be underestimated. Paige Jones is now the offensive star but she will need to improve efficiency and ball handling for Michigan to compete. Incoming freshman Jessica Robinson might very well challenge for one of the starting MB or OH spots. Katarina Glavinic has turned into a gem of a transfer and has finally solidified the OPP position. Natalie Smith's strong play at the end of the season makes her the favorite to replace Lerg at libero.
Questions:
Can Cori Crocker stay healthy for an entire season? Her tournament performance was encouraging
Will a healthy Wetterstrom be more productive on the left side? Malinowski and others might challenge for OH2
Can Shannon and Welsh finally develop a connection? Shannon is Blue's leading blocker, but hitting numbers lack
Will any of the freshman have an impact? Robinson is the star of this class, but opportunity abounds for all!
Who gets the backup setter role with the departure of O'Leary? Dowd andLiu are late roster additions to help fill that hole
