It's the March Rosen Report! Coach touches on the spring schedule; the upcoming Art of Coaching Volleyball clinic and how the team bridges the gap between spring and fall. I'm especially stoked about the round robin this Saturday featuring an alumni team with Abby Hatch (Cole); Carly Skjodt; Jenna Lerg; Ally Davis and Kelly Murphy. Go Blue!

She's holding that ball a little crooked.

Today’s spring matches featuring Oakland U and a Michigan alumni team are being broadcast on YouTube: What a novel idea. Good for them. Too bad every program doesn't do this.

Report from Michigan's spring match opener today:
4 team round robin with a split Michigan squad, Oakland U and a hybrid Michigan alumni team. Matches were best of 3; 3rd set to 15.
Rosters
Michigan Blue (A Team) - Welsh, Glavinic, Bair, Wetterstrom, Jones, Smith. Bair and Shannon switched teams in Match 2; Hamacher played on A team in Match 3.
Michigan Gold (B Team) - Rocafort, Malinowski, Shannon, Brooks, Sadilek, Persson, Hamacher, DiSanto
Michigan Friends and Alumni - Skjodt, Lerg, Abbott, Abby (Cole) Hatch, Katherine Mahlke, Kelly Murphy, Ally Davis; plus Brady Rosen and a couple of guys from the club team.
Results
Michigan Blue 3-0 Michigan Alumni 2-1 Michigan Gold 1-2 Oakland U 0-3
Notes - No sign of Cori Crocker. Hoping she is fit and healthy come fall! - The alumni were a bit rusty, but they can still bring it. Man do I miss Abby's quickness on the slide. - Kelly Murphy looks like she could slide right back in the lineup without missing a beat. - It looks like Jones has been working hard on serve receive, she looked better in the back row - Smith continues to improve, was solid as libero for the A team today - Welsh and Shannon appear to have been working together, much better connection - Persson looks much improved, should provide competition for OH2
Fun day of wonky spring volleyball. Bummed to have missed the water polo match going on next door at the same time but nice to see the team and alumni in action again. Now off to sweat out the second half of basketball. Go Blue!

Reading this made me sad and angry, but also proud of this incredibly brave and resilient woman.

What an incredibly heroic and amazing young woman. Just. Wow. That takes so much strength to do what she did and she is a survivor.

Reading this made me sad and angry, but also proud of this incredibly brave and resilient woman. This is devastating, and she has been assaulted twice at college. Good for Claire to be there for her. Sydney is extremely strong to be speaking out about this!

Major kudos to Sydney for her efforts to turn an appalling experience into something so constructive. If anyone knows of a way to make a donation to the support group, please post it. (I wasn't able to find a way with a quick web search.)
