The Facebook post has a couple more stats from Saturday: Now if we can get Wetterstrom to play in the fall like she does in the spring...

Isn't it unusual to play spring ball against a conference rival?

Isn't it unusual to play spring ball against a conference rival? I wouldn't call Northwestern a rival. They came to Ann Arbor last year and I think proximity and quality of competition are the drivers. You can bus to Chicago, spend some time doing drills and competition, and bus back in the same day. Much more of a rivalry will be played on April 20 when they go up against Michigan State in Grand Rapids. This has become an annual event, draws big crowds and is typically very entertaining volleyball between two teams and coaches that like to get after each other.

Wetterstrom showed HUGE promise at the beginning until the awful incident happened that derailed the season for her. I think they could've made big splashes in B1G play and beyond with her at full steam and took pressure off of Skjodt. But I think Michigan's biggest problem next year is in the middle... Kiara is truthfully awful, hit poor % and little to no blocks. Crocker was out all season so I have no clue on her but very one dimensional what I saw and no block. Michigan needs to develop a BLOCK! Also spread of offense, I'd think Wetterstrom could go play OH with PJ, Robinson and Crocker in the middle and Katerina OPP. Wetterstrom seems more of a left side, Katerina was superb against Texas at OPP and Robinson is the type of hops we need for success that Kiara cannot give... Also, training Jones to see the block better, she had almost a 100 errors in her last 11 matches and hit for .132 clip. She slumped hard and didn't recover. But she has the swing and athleticism to be more lethal than Skjodt hands down.

Kiara Shannon led the team in total blocks last season, no one else is even close. Cori Crocker played 85/122 sets, still managed to lead the team in blocks per set despite her nagging injuries and was brilliant in the tournament. The team certainly lacks offensive punch from the middle; hopefully Robinson can help flll that hole.

Cori did decent blocking wise against Texas. Kiara did decent blocking against Pitt. But those were it, when it came to big blocking performances. Also, Kiara just barely hit over .200!!! AS A MIDDLE? Cori also hit for poor percentage just above .280. Versus other BIGTEN teams whom put multiple members in the top ten hitting percentage. If we could get both middles blocking more than 115 attacks on a season and hitting at least .260 or better. Michigan could be a good team.

I believe the Wolverines vb team play in Cliff Keen Arena? I've never been there...not once. I've been to the IM building many times to play racquetball, but not Cliff Keen. I don't even remember a Cliff Keen Arena when I went to the IM building. I don't even remember the name "Cliff Keen." It's as if it magically appeared even though it says the arena was built in 1956.
