WAIT.....UPCOMING SENIOR GJ??!?!??!?!?!??! That’s my guess? Lol. They said fewest remaining eligibility. Implied she has one main move (the slide on the right side). But I could be wrong.

I quess we’re talking about GJ ( Gwen Jones ). I’m sure someone would be interested in an experienced 6’3” MB. Looks like Allison’s transfer has players thing hard about next year and wanting to be on a winning program. Auburn reall fizzeled according to all the preseason hype. MSST is losing several more of they’re walk-ons from last year. Lochner and Price are returning the other are leaving.

I find the Auburn transfer interesting. Her skill set is somewhat limited so I'm not quite sure where she'd go with an opportunity to immediately start. I agree. I don’t think she’s quick enough to move back to the middle either.

My next question is whether or not GJ heads home

Not sure of GJ leaving but the setter leaving would not be a determining factor for her departure since the setter was only there for one year. Hopefully the staff at Auburn will Get things in order soon! The setter position would be the most critical piece of the puzzle. Looking at their roster a lot of young Talent on the team to work with so all is not lost. Two outsides returning with a year of experience and Middle one of the top blockers in SEC this year.

Long time listener, first time caller here. Question for Mizzou fans, or anyone for that matter, but what was the biggest flaw of what is a very talented team? From where I'm sitting the passing in the serve receive and on defense was the biggest achilles tendon. As a Mizzou fan I was at times really excited by what I saw but was too often offset by frustration at all the overpasses or letting playable dumps hit the ground all too often. I hate to pick on the libero, looks like a very nice gal, but I don't think she stacks up to the last few liberos they've had. I think it's even more glaring cause I don't see that she has the talent and range to offset all the mediocre passers around her. I haven't seen the overall defensive stats but I know she ranked last or near the bottom of digs-per-set by a libero, is that an overrated stat? I'm hoping for a change there next year but what have others seen?

I'm hoping for a change there next year but what have others seen? I would completely agree that passing is what stops this team from being on the same level as Kentucky rather than Tennessee, SC, Florida, etc. As far as the libero goes, Sents is usually very consistent in serve receive. IMO she has the greatest on court energy of anyone, always positive and up beat. I just don't think she is quick enough to pick up the tips and shots that don't come directly in her vicinity. You are correct that it doesn't help that the passers around her aren't any better. I think this team has far more talent than the 2016 squad, but they had Kan's ball control and a very underrated libero in Ethridge that year. This year they just didn't have the back row to keep up. We have some of the best middle combos in the country, but again that is reliant on passing. My only excuse for Sents dig numbers would be that the block is tougher than most so she gets less opportunities than other liberos, but still, there are some ridiculously readable dumps/tips that hit the floor. I was somewhat surprised that the Krelow's didn't bring in an elite libero with all the transfers of this season. Hopefully they work on that in the off season.

Good points. Kan and Ethridge were a great passing duo and I thought Meister before that was really solid. I was waiting for a change this season when they lost a bunch of games there late in the season. The losses to Kentucky and Tennessee were pretty brutal, especially that last set against Tennessee when the wheels just completely fell off and they couldn't pass a decent ball to save their life. Munlyn had a solid year as usual, but like you said the passing wasn't there so there were stretches where she was a non-factor offensively. To your point about Kreklows bringing in a great libero, I was hoping Annika Gereau was that player. Obviously I don't see the practices, but when Gereau was out there I would see some great saves. I wanted there to be a bigger role for her and she had a good sophomore year at Illinois, one of the top teams in the Big Ten. I wonder if she was looking for an even bigger role coming to Missouri, so I hope she isn't too disappointed and ends up leaving. I'm guessing Coach K was expecting a lot of growth out of Sents but I didn't see it and I thought she was a weak link the previous year also. It wouldn't be the first time they stuck with a player for too long... But of course I'm speaking as an outsider and coaching from the couch.

From where I'm sitting the passing in the serve receive and on defense was the biggest achilles tendon. Overlarge tendons are, indeed, a handicap in high level volleyball! Sorry, I'm not usually such a heel. As for what held Mizzou back from being a top tier team, I think it was definitely ball control. Munlyn wasn't as big a factor on offense as she needed to be (a function of the passing, imo). Also, though I think DeBerg and Member-Meneh are both above average OH's, they are both not quite to the dynamic level of Leah Edmond or other elite OH's on a consistent basis. DeBerg just makes too many errors (fixable, I think), and I don't know that Member-Meneh has enough diversity in her game yet to be elite. She certainly has the athleticism!! Love watching her. Mizzou will be an interesting team to watch next year, for sure.

Overlarge tendons are, indeed, a handicap in high level volleyball! Ouch! I laughed though so I guess that also makes me a heel. Yeah a lot of raw talent on this team but the passing has to be fixed first and foremost. I think DeBerg will be sharper next year, not the most athletically mobile person but she's got great height and a great serve. Leketor is fun to watch for sure and has an explosive swing, reminiscent of pint-sized Carly Kan but not as good all-around so there is a lot of room for improvement. I actually think Hollingsworth is the least dynamic of the outsides, she's a solid player but I don't think she particularly excels at any one thing. Wouldn't mind seeing an upgrade there, maybe one of these 2 new freshmen OH that are coming in next year. I'm excited for next season and I hope they address the passing deficiencies.

I think Leketor is much improved as far as diversity in shots go from last season. She really knew how and when to tool and roll, compared to her freshmen season where she just railed on most balls. I think Hollingsworth has been forced to play roles on this team that haven't really allowed her to be as powerful offensively as the other two OH's (she does everything but set). She seems to still look more comfortable hitting from the left side like she did before college and she's pretty effective there as well. I often wonder what this team would look like with a true right side and Hollingsworth on the outside (not to discredit her as a RS, she does a great job blocking).
While Deberg and Leketor might not be of the caliber that Edmond is, I think Mizzou beats Kentucky in the middle and Hollingsworth can really take over a match on the right, like at Florida. It definitely will be interesting to see how they finish next year.
