Huh? Hockey at Illinois? I doubt they have a ton of revenue with football being not too good on days other than today and men's hoops not where it wants to be (but potentially on the uptick). Wisconsin isn't doing all that great revenue wise on hockey at this point, and there is a long tradition of the sport at the university and in the state. Could you really justify building a new arena and starting a program from a revenue standpoint? As for volleyball, I haven't been there in a while, but is Huff an issue? I have always seen it as a tough place to play, one that I think gives the Illini an advantage. At any rate, they have made two Final Fours this decade, so it isn't like they are struggling overall (and I think they will get going as the schedule gets a bit easier and they may get a bit healthier). It's one of the best places to watch volleyball? Ah, no. Does it have great crowd and student support? Yes. Can you actual see the match from general admission without standing and leaning to one side? No. Can you go to the restroom and not miss half a set? No. Are there any real concessions? Still no. If they could remodel Huff so you could actual see from the upper deck, and had more than about 2 toilets, it could be a great venue, because the arena size is perfect. But it has a lot of issues. One of which is that it is actually an academic building with classrooms and offices. If Illinois built a 6,000 capacity hockey/vb facility it could work, especially because the VB seating would in theory be bigger. I agree that the revenue isn't there for that right now, but they'd have to have a real facility for hockey to go from club to Big Ten.

In regards to moving VB from Huff to a new arena, why fix something that many do not see as broken.
I wonder if w-basketball would be more successful if they had just stayed in Huff.

I think we all need to pitch in and get Coach Tamas some Rolaids/Tums for the rest of the season. I'm sure he might get an ulcer by the end of the year.

I was watching last years semi with wisconsin and wow does Quade look so terminal last season. She hasnt every really looked like 2018 Quade to me yet and I think its because of the consistency of the sets. I see her sometimes having to pause during her approach. I kinda figured out Quade without Poulter is a different kind of Quade, but I hope by the end of the season Brown starts getting more consistent to the pins. I think OBrien has kinda played down one level this year. She hasnt been able to pick up many hard hits like she was able to last year. Illinois needs to recruit talent in the libero position for the next season. On the other hand I think next few games we should start using Alison more. She is consistent, and honestly even if she doesnt get the point atleast we have rallies for them to have more opportunities.

Scott Richey's News-Gazette article on the Illini being two-thirds of their way through a grueling three match away stretch at Wisky, Minny, and to Penn State on Wednesday: "The Illinois volleyball team will have traveled approximately 1,500 miles in six days by first serve of Wednesday’s 7 p.m. match at Penn State. With a flight back home of more than 500 miles still to come after playing the Nittany Lions. Not only is the Illini’s recent stretch of road matches their toughest competition-wise with three straight against teams in the country’s top eight, it also qualifies as the most grueling travel-wise of the season." Beth Prince with 11 kills hitting .348 as the left pin, one rotation sub and Mica Allison adding 9 kills at .364 for the remaining two rotations at OPP worked well last night. So cool that Beth is healthy and on the court. This substitution approach is the one Nebraska has used with success these past two years with Capri Davis, a right-handed OH coming in for one rotation, swinging from the left pin, who's then replaced for the remaining two rotations by the lefty Jazz Sweet coming in as OPP.
A new wrinkle in the Illini game plan and hopefully one that continues to develop. Can't wait for Saturday's match at Huff with Ohio State- anyone know why they changed the start time from 7PM to 5PM?

Does Beths performance win her the 2nd starting OH spot and Cooney goes back to OPP. Do we chance screwing with the line -up again. We are a different team with Beth in the line up. She has more shots than Cooney. I wish Conney at 6’4” would practice high hands shots. Get rid of the tips and take a whack!

I was trying to figure out this new rotation, i.e., who was losing a spot when Prince came in. In all, we got 20 kills out of that pair in three rotations.
I couldn't figure it out because I was also trying to read the PSU defensive scheme against JQ. Every time she approached the net—as if to hit a set—the PSU MB moved over to pair up with their Opposite and a back row player often stepped up from the back. Jackie was hitting against three defenders often and rarely less than two. We truly need some creative schemes to ramp up our firepower.
If you want to really have something to worry about, think about who our hitters will be next year when Quade and Prince are gone. Lol!
