Wow, that’s big news. Have been listening to Dave’s play-by-play and interviews since ‘91. He’s one of the best in the business. Congrats Dave. Agreed, Girlfriend. Whether it's volleyball, baseball or basketball he knows his stuff. Relates well to the student athletes, the coaches and the fans. Always deferential to his color folks, whoever that might be. We'll miss you Dave.

At least as far as volleyball is concerned...Dave is going out on a very high note. 31 years of dedication. Many times over the years have I spent my evenings with DL listening to him on the radio describing every Illini play, good and bad. And, I am going to admit an occasional wince when Dave would apply one of his trademark phrases such as "Bartschy (Michelle Bartsch) just used that block "like a kitchen appliance"! Illinois matches will never again be the same. Congratulations Dave on a historic announcing career. Wishing you a wonderful next chapter.

Coach Tamas on Ali Bastianelli being awarded the Female Big Ten Medal of Honor Award at Illinois:
"Ali's honors and accolades are the direct results of the work ethic she brings on and off the court," said Chris Tamas, volleyball head coach. "She has been crucial in a leadership role over the past two years since I have taken over the program. We are forever indebted to what Ali has helped create for our program. From an all-around standpoint, I would hold her records and overall recognition on and off the court up against anyone here at Illinois."
