(c) And in any event, let's see if both players have that team-first ethic that truly great programs develop and use to attract and retain multiple quality players at each position. (cough, cough...Nebraska, "We/Me"...cough, cough) I know that was their slogan, but come on. There isn't another program whose non-starters transfer out only to have the program bring in new kids more often than Nebraska. Separate issue. Talented and competitive players that can't get on the court move on for playing time, but that doesn't entail a lack of buy-in while in Lincoln. The team culture is inclusive and players have a great bond. They all put the team first.

They don't even pretend to try to retain those players.

Never implied that "no one ever leaves" was said. My observation of the transfer market over the past few years is that non-starters transferring out is more common with Nebraska than with other programs (at a similar level).

I figured y'all would pick up Allison. Illini aren't gonna miss a beat next year. She's really good.

Super excited that we have some great competition in the gym for spring. Diana and Mica competing will only make each of them better. I wonder if Brown will transfer out ?? Final four already paying off. With only Ali leaving, we return most of our offense, the potential inclusion of Bruna - we are gonna have another great season next year.

Cook is like the Machiavelli of college volleyball coaches. Get the players to buy in as long as you need them, then dump them off at the end of the year meetings if you need to use their scholarship on someone else. It's ridiculous that you guys pretend like Cook is some ethical saint

I think she has a lot to work on this spring with Tamas and crew to run this B1G team. I think we may see Allison and Brown start the season with a 6-2 and maybe once Allison gets better at being a frontrow setter she take over and use the 5-1.

Both Brown and Allison are clearly both very talented, and the University has options based on performance and needs. Brown has the benefit of being under the tutelage of Tamas and Jordyn Poulter for 5 months now plus university-level weight room training, while Allison has Division 1 and Junior National Team playing experience. I mentioned in an older post, if Illinois ends up getting Bruna too, that's an abundance of riches. In an ideal physically competitive environment, I could see a 6-2 or modified 5-2 with Bruna and Jackie as 6-rotation OHs, and Beth and Megan on the right, or Mica there too. That really leaves our middle positions, where Ashlyn has established herself fairly well but with a need for a newcomer, and the defensive specialists - who may not have as much work if we have 2 6-rotation OHs. Even if Bruna doesn't work out at all, we have a Senior Beth Prince who is actually my favorite player for her perseverance, growth and willingness to do anything to make the team/each play work and a bunch of returning and new DSs. Not saying we're at the very top of the Big Ten in 2019 but I expect a lot of good volleyball.

Can someone explain our scholarship situation? I think we now show 18 players (19 if Bruna comes on board) for 12 scholarships. I know that not all defensive players receive one, but even without counting those folks we have more players than scholarships. If I remember correctly, scholarships can not be split in volleyball.

It's odd that so many of these players he supposedly pushes out keep in touch with him long after they're gone. Must be Stockholm syndrome, lol.

Only for DI volleyball. Only DII can split athletic scholarships.
