Whew, it would take at least an hour to hoof it all the way up there.
Another thing might be the pep band. With limited seating are they really going to want the band clogging up an entire section? And if there's no band, would they bother having the spirit squad at the games? Between that and the diminished student section, the atmosphere could be a little drab.

Also might be a hike in the ticket cost. They raised it from $5 to $8 a few years back, and with a brand new arena they might try to peel a 10 spot off of you on your way in. On the plus side they might design the ticket booth a little better, so you don't have those games where the line wraps halfway around the arena.

Will the Covelli Center look anything like the artist renditions? Maybe not the 5 on 5 action. But 5 players is *something* like 6. Architect must be a BB fan.

She's going to be an outstanding libero for the bucks. I'm interested in seeing who wins the primary DS spot between Gruensfelder and incoming frosh J'naisya Moore. Moore was an absolute workhorse for her HS team in Maryland, one of the better teams in the country. Of course there's the possibility of having 2 DS spots open up next year.

Jenaisya Moore had many offers (apparently almost 100 programs were interested in her). University of Maryland was very interested in her (OFC being the Maryland Gaterade POY 2016 and 2017). She is a great all-around player but she does lack "height" being at 5'11". But boy she makes any set into a great play. I hope to see her grow within in OSU, and hopefully help OSU's future.

Will the Covelli Center look anything like the artist renditions? Hopefully they will be wearing OSU colors and not Marquette colors. Also the artist clearly thinks Men's Volleyball is more important. And yes, I know OSU has men's volleyball.

Those lights hanging down? It must be a very high ceiling. Otherwise it looks great.

Honestly, outside of the high school CAD class project appearance of the conceptual drawing, I think it looks great and congrats to OSU. I believe it could really benefit the program and glad to see OSU using their substantial war chest to improve Olympic sports. I agree they probably could go up a notch in terms of seating especially if the program becomes a contender and takes off in popularity but for now 4000 is a good fit. Huff is 4150 and is fine for the majority of the season but I feel like an extra 1000-1500 seats would be a nice option for big matches and NCAA tournament games. BTW, bands from both schools were at the sweet sixteen and elite eight matches and took up a whole section but still were able to fit in a good crowd.
I am curious as to how it will work out as Illinois is in a similar boat. The university is considering building a multi use facility with 5000 seat cap. off campus that will mainly be a home for a future NCAA hockey program, but I think they are planning on putting volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics there as well (all currently call Huff home). That's caused some grumbling as parking will probably not be free and students will have to take a bus trip downtown. Im probably in the minority but I am leaning towards a new arena. Huff has great atmosphere and a lot of sentimental value but it is old and the main gym looks it. Mainly I think it will help with recruiting and show that Illinois takes pride in the program. OTOH a mostly empty arena won't be an advantage. TBH, the fan base is kind of small as is, we averaged probably 2000 until very late so a larger arena will probably make the crowd seem smaller. I'm skeptical of the chances for renovating Huff Hall as I have seen the campus master plan and I think the admin wants to claim that footprint for more class room space. Not sure how directly applicable OSU's experience will be as Columbus is a good sized city with a lot more traffic while a trip to "downtown" Champaign from campus is fairly quick and easy (almost every bus line would end up there as it will be attached to the central bus depot). Definitely walk-able and probably can be biked faster than taking the bus on some days.
With OSU and IU both getting new facilities (I heard MSU was as well but can't find anything) maybe that will motivate other schools as well to invest in volleyball facility improvements. We'll see.

Also the artist clearly thinks Men's Volleyball is more important. And yes, I know OSU has men's volleyball. OSU Men's VB is more important. More successful, at least, with more success coming up--Hanson will get at least one more national title before he retires, maybe another 2-3. The women's program...is it really improving compared to what's going on with Nebraska, Penn, Minnesota, Illinois, etc?

Big time get for OSU, they beat out Minnesota on this one although they had a signficant advantage going into her recruitment. Taylor and Murr will be two outstanding defenders for the program. For as horrible as the Buckeyes are now, the future is getting very promising.
