I think KK's roster will be extremely predictable and will not take younger, high risk-high reward players, although as said on the NET live, the WNT needs a "hammer" if it ever wants to win a gold medal. The roster will likely be... MB: Foluke, Adams, Dixon OH: Larson, Hill, MBH, (Wilhite?) OPP: Murphy, Lowe S: Lloyd, (Hancock or Carlini) L: Robinson IMO, this roster is too safe to compete for gold and he needs to invest in a "hammer". Lowe could be that roll but she has to get more consistent and improve her ball control. Same goes for Lee. I don't think setting is our biggest problem. Time to start looking toward 2024? I 100% disagree. The reason the team struggled at the WCH and hasn't been as dominant is BECAUSE we cannot get a consistent setter that can execute Karch's system. The rest of the roster doesn't need a lot of adjustment.
Jordan, Foluke and Kelsey all played well at the WCH. Carli, Tori, Michelle and Kelly did not.
Karsta needs more time and she will get there. Lauren G. and Rachael were on limited duty but came in off the bench and delivered especially vs. Russia, China and Italy. Granted USA still lost those matches but that was because Karch drags his feet at making substitutions. Micha almost brought us over the line vs. the Dutch but then got predictable. Megan barely played the whole tournament.
We need two consistent setters. I like Hancock as the double sub setter....except I wish Karch would let her use her jump serve.
I would like to see Chiaka play against some elite teams on the main roster. We need another shut down blocker. Her vertical jump is probably as high as Foluke's.
I think Plummer is one of the only NCAA players that will get an invite this late in the quad to train. That is if she wants to. Doesn't seem like many of this seasons NCAA seniors are going to continue playing VB after graduation.
We just need an Opp that can be effective and a consistent setter(s) and we will be right back in the mix.

My roster for 2020:
S: Carlini, Hancock OH: Larson, Hill, Robinson, MBH MB: Akinradewo, Adams, Ogbogu Opp: Lowe, Plummer L: Courtney
All the Rio vets minus Murphy and Lloyd. Sorry....i'm over them. 3 younginz (Ogbogu, Plummer and Carlini) I like Kelsey back as an OH. Courtney was Karch's original pick to transition to Libero before she was injured last year. Only 5 of this roster will not be viable after this quad. This roster sets up 2024 nicely.
Thoughts?

I personally am not a huge fan of Larson, at least in the front row. She isn’t a terminal OH in my opinion. I think if larch is looking for liberos as much as he is... Larson would be a good try. But I also do. Or like Courtney or robin on as liberos. Defensively they are not up to par with other liberos. Saucer could make a good bet on cracking the roster because KK is looking for serve receive which she is phenomenal at.

I agree about Larson but I wouldn't move her completely, I'm just not sure why she is OH1. Surely Hill or Bartsch are more terminal? Larson imo is much better suited for the OH2 role.

Poulter just signed with Chieri in Italian league A1. Good gig for her.

She has every shot in her tool box for tooling the block and reading the play. Plus she is the glue that holds this team together. I agree she is more suited for the OH2 position. She and Kelsey should be in that position with MBH and Hill at OH1. Until we get a better option for Libero in the gym....Courtney and Robinson will be it. Ya'll might as well accept it.

Has anyone tried to find hotels during the Olympics? Hotel beds are very scarce, causing prices to skyrocket to $1,000 a day in many cases for a 3-star hotel close to the venue or training. That also does not include funding for security at a non-Village hotel and state department needs, added transportation, etc., Further, the FIVB does not really set the roster sizes - IOC does that based on total athletes for the entire Olympics. Then athlete roster sizes are broken down per sport to reach that max total set by the IOC based on host bids submitted 7 years before the Olympics (and bid created up to two years before that). Expanded rosters are not something that is easily changed. When the Japanese delegation arrived in Rio they were do satisfied with the Olympic Village condition so they went and stayed in a hotel for a few days. But staying in the Olympic Village is part of the Olympic experience. You mean they were not satisfied so they stayed in a hotel? At Athens, the US Men basketball team stayed in the luxry ocean liner Queen Mary 2, so it's not required that all athletes must stay in the Olympic village. Sure I agree, it's nice to experience the Olympic atmosphere, but most of the medal-contending athletes are there to win, atmosphere comes second. Accomodation can always be arranged one way or the other, at the end of the day, I believe it should not be the make-or-break condition on roster limit, at least for volleyball.

But the point is, alternative accommodation can always be arranged.

Is she even really that interested in pushing for the 2020 indoor roster anyway? Or is she more committed to beach? Or does she just really not know or care to think about it (honestly wouldn’t blame her)? Plummer might just be a “let’s hold all talk until she makes a move”. I don’t really know if it’s fair to include her in 2020 discussion right now. I remember watching one of Plummer's post-match NCAA beach interviews last summer and she mentioned that right now she is really loving the beach game and is more interested in looking into professional opportunities in beach after graduation. You can’t provide proof of that comment because it’s never happened, stop talking nonsense.
