How does Maloney compare to JWO? Wasn't JWO all the rage while at NEB? JWO was more of a standout but she did herself no favors basically dropping playing the sport immediately after graduation. It sounds like Maloney is in a similar boat. I’ve heard on this thread that Carly Kan is libero right at her club. Would love to see her get a look, especially now that she’s got some professional time under her belt.

I really only see Karch looking to solidify the setter and libero position. I honestly don't think he is looking for any other hitters or middles. I mean, it doesn’t hurt to develop young players

I’d like to see her, Fitzmorris, and Lake in the gym over the summer.

I’d like to see her, Fitzmorris, and Lake in the gym over the summer. Except Stanford is still in session during VNL (quarter school), and she's also playing beach. So she wouldn't be available until mid-June at best to start training indoor again. Not exactly setting her up for success at an international senior event by plucking her off the sand and shipping her overseas immediately with zero time to train.

This might be one of those situations where it's on Plummer to decide if she wants to be there or not. She has a full plate.

Having pro league experience would have helped her mature quickly and further refine her skills. But she did not do so, so that looks like the end of the road for her with USA Volleyball.

She just wasn't good enough.

She just wasn't good enough. But neither was Banworth at the same stage. That shanked pass in the 5th against PSU at 13s (i think) basically handed Penn State the title. I’m sort of kidding but had JWO played professionally, there’s no doubt in my mind she would have learned more and became good enough.

Isn’t Novara currently undefeated in Champions League and Serie A1? They lost today... still does not change the fact Carlini`s game has not improved...her sets to the middles are still a working progress. Veljkovic and Chirichella are hitting .436 and .396 on the season, respectfully, and are 8th and 13th among all league middles in total points. Carlini has also been a big offensive threat herself, more so than even Hancock: 28 kills (most among setters in the league) on .590 hitting (best among setters in the league). Overall, Carlini has Novara hitting .328 -- the best in Serie A1. Hancock, in comparison, has Monza hitting .276. Wolosz and Conegliano are at .322. And only 31% of all of Novara's swings have gone to Egonu, in fact (due mostly to her playing less sets than other teams' stars). It just feels like she's getting every other ball because she's hitting like .400 with 5.5 kills per set.
