Very young on the pins but I think Purdue has all the pieces for a good season. A bit surprised Chinn was not a Senior Ace...she'll need to get stronger but I think can contribute in a big way eventually. Will be interesting to see what happens at setter.

Okay Boilermakers, this train keeps chugging! 2018 didn't end exactly how we wanted but it was definitely a year of extreme growth! Atkinson did what she needed to do--carried the offense and earned a 1st Team All-American honor after leading the B1G in kills.
But 2018 was also the emergence of Newton as a more all-around player, the introduction of Bush as a pretty formidable setter, probably the best left-side blocker Purdue has seen in awhile in Cleveland, the offensive threat of Johnson as a middle blocker, Hornung as the future of the back court, and the development of Otec and Reisinger. Purdue was young but everyone grew into their roles.
We only have one primary position to fill in 2019: Opposite. But we have a lot of prospects! 2019 will be a year of major depth, with 19 players currently on the roster (barring any transfers, injuries). Atkinson contributed a lot of offensive output but I could see a couple of players making an immediate impact in that position.
The depth could also allow Cleveland to move back to the middle, though I think she proved herself as the best blocker we've had at the pins.
It should also be some interesting competition for the libero jersey. It's Hornung's to lose but Otec came up pretty big in the 2nd half of the year.
2019 is a year to climb higher in the B1G and I can't wait! #BoilerUp

A lot of depth, but a lot of unproven talent. Regardless, it’s pretty exciting to look at the roster and see all of the different options.
It will be very interesting how Renner comes into play. I do like Bush but can’t deny a 6’2 setter who learned to attack with her left hand.
Atkinson was truly amazing to watch and develop and will sorely be missed. They will do some shuffling around but they have talent, height and athleticism to at least soften the blow of her departure.
I feel only Mohler has the only guaranteed spot/position at MB - but with a plethora of options at OH Cleveland will probably move back to middle. Not sure if her blocking prowess is enough to make for her lack of efficiency.

The Boilermakers have released their 2019 Spring schedule. Should be fun meeting Illinois and a veteran-heavy Wisconsin.

Interested to see the lineup. Thoughts on who will replace Atkinson?

Interested to see the lineup. Thoughts on who will replace Atkinson? My guess is Joiner until the freshmen come in.
