Yes, Gushue does better than average, eh? Also, Olympic/World Figure Skating medalist, Kaetlyn Osmond, was born in NL, however did not really grow up there. To briefly touch on PEI Volleyball - they have to have the weirdest setup for Club. Last year when I was looking at out-of-province tournaments, I came across their website for more info, so take a look at this: volleyballpei.com/page.php?page_id=80494Very strange. It's also weird to me that NS and PEI have the same time frame for club, which is the opposite for NB and NL - you'd think the Atlantic provinces would all be running at the same time. I'm not 100% sure about the other provinces for when they have their club season, but I assume most are in Winter/Spring, not Fall, as school volleyball is generally in the Fall. Western Canada club volleyball CAN NOT start until the completion of the High a school season and runs to May for Nationals . You get kids from playing school provincials on Sunday to Club tryouts on Monday.

Personally, I would prefer if they waited until January 2nd to start club tryouts. You can always do "open gym" for December if you feel you need to have them play volleyball for 8-9 months straight.

Oh - there are lots of open gyms all during the school season as well while coaches are trying to build their teams. Early offer period starts September so if you don’t have an offer and you want to play on a competitive team, you are hitting open gyms consistently during the school season as well- bit of a gong show really.

In Canada West Trinity Western is no longer undefeated, getting swept at home by UBC.
Thursday's Brock @ Guelph game is the only remaining January bout, but a full slate of February games await.

Doesn't volleyball season interfere with hockey season up there?

Doesn't volleyball season interfere with hockey season up there? I would say it interferes more with basketball season.

Trinity Western's slide continues, as they drop game one vs sub-.500 MacEwan on the road. Game two tonight. Do the Dinos have enough in the tank to overtake them in the standings? They'd already be tied for first, were it not for an unexpected road loss to MacEwan of their own, the weekend before.

Trinity Western dropped another one to MacEwan today and Calgary lost to Mount Royal in 5 - lots of shake ups as teams are fighting for playoff positions

UBC with Kiera Van Ryk must be the favourites to bring home the big trophy.

UBC with Kiera Van Ryk must be the favourites to bring home the big trophy. They're like the Penn State of Canadian volleyball.

Dalhousie also no longer undefeated in AUS after a 3-1 loss to SMU on Friday. Interesting point, they became ranked #1 in USport this week for the first time in program history, the pressure got to them?
