It's funny, because she's currently being heralded as one of, if not THE greatest, Husker of all time by many on and off this forum, and it's Husker fans who keep bringing up her AA honors, in a way doing more "underrating" than anyone else. WHY THE DONUT DUNKY? before the championship game not many were talking about that were they? She has always been underrated when it comes to POY, and AA status and...she has played in the toughest conference in the country. People wouldn't even consider her in the discussion for POY until after the NC when she cleaned house. DUH!!! So you want to talk about who was "underrated" in the past, but is now "appropriately rated?" OR would you prefer no one say a word after her senior-year NC performance, because well, she's expected to perform like that? Lol. Besides, she had 2 NC before this year's championship game. And 2 MOP. No other Husker can claim that. Calm down and stop harping on the AA awards, which AGAIN, just brings up maybe the 1 flaw in Foecke's resume which most other posters are ignoring. And btw: - Her freshman year, she hit .277 with 3 kills/set as a 3-rotation player. Not deserving of more than HM. - Her sophomore year, she hit .304 with less kills/set at 2.93 still as a 3-rotation player. Still not deserving of more than HM. - Her junior year, she hit .290 with 3.5 kills/set. Every single First-Team AA last year had over 4 kills/set, except for Simone Lee, who still had more kill/set than Foecke AND hit .319. I think she deserved Second-Team. Her numbers jumped up significantly from last year. Hence her very deserving First-Team team honor. Her placement was justified all 4 years, so it really sounds like you have an issue with the AA awards not being the same as the "National Championship MOP" or "National Championship Winner."

Let me also contend a team of underrated/forgotten players from my previous 3 Fantasy League teams that I think would make a pretty damn formidable team... S: Katie Brand (Kansas St.) OH: Sierra Nobley (Boise St.) OH: Nele Barber (Long Beach St.) OH: Symone Abbott (Northwestern) MB: Shelly Fanning (Baylor ^^^ agreed w/ trojansc) MB: Piper Thomas (UNI) L: Tessa Fournier (Seton Hall) Speaking of Tessa Fournier... Seton Hall has had two of the most underrated/forgotten back-to-back liberos of this decade, winning 5-straight conference DPOY: 2010 - 2013: Alyssa Warren (2012 & 2013 Big East Libero of the Year) 2014 - 2016: Tessa Fournier (2014, 2015, & 2016 Big East Libero of the Year)

For Texas, I'd say:
Michelle Kocher, Setter 2008-11: as a true freshman, helped Texas return to the Final Four in 2008 for the first time in 13 seasons
Sha'Dare McNeal, MB/RS 2009-12: as another poster mentioned, a very well-rounded player whose passing, hitting, and blocking were key in Texas 2012 title; my only negative comment about her is that she just couldn't hit from either pin (other than the slide)
Nicole Dalton, Setter/DS 2012-15: oh, what could have been. If not for several hip injuries/surgeries, she was most likely destined to be our setter (in a 6-2 offense, I believe). Relegated to the back row her last two seasons, she really helped with her passing and leadership. A true team player.
I would add Yaazie, but she did get Honorable Mention AA this past season. But, probably the most popular Longhorn player among non-Texas fans.

Isn't this the first year Foecke was first team AA after dragging her team to 2 NC? I would say she was very underrated by snobville. Foecke never had eye popping stats like this year though. I could have seen her there last year, but there wasn't anyone undeserving on last years first team. Maybe in place of Anae? But the years before, she was always good, but never had to carry her team like she did this year because she had the rolfzens, etc to back her up. I still think shes one of the best of this decade, but that has to do with more for her potential, and her INNATE leadership qualities. Those cant be taught and she has it more than any athlete I have seen in a long time. Foecke has 2 MOP awards and will go down as one of the very best outsides this decade even with just one 1st team honor. I dont think anyone underrates her or will forget her accomplishments anytime soon. It seems that players most likely to be forgotten about are ones who were incredible during the regular season but their team didnt advance far in the tournament. People remember epic matches and the semis/finals. I'm guessing most here will remember the likes of Tara Mueller (key role player from the classic semifinal) more than they'll remember someone like Brooke Delano even though Delano had more honors and a more accomplished career than Mueller. 5-10 years from now everyone will remember Foecke for her stellar performances in all 4 Final Fours. She'll be one of the first names to come to mind when talking about all time great Husker players or players from the 2010s.

Charnette Fair - the addition of Airi Miyabe to Minnesota's 2019 roster made me think of her. What a great blocker. So fun to watch. Minnesota fans, remember "Charnette Fair is everywhere!"

Kim Kuzma - good libero in an otherwise miserable era for the Badgers (07-10, DS the first season). #5 on the season digs list in the 25-pt era (2008), and not far behind Jocelyn Wack in season digs (keeping in mind J. Wack played in the 30-pt era her whole career).
Kuzma had 4.65 digs per set compared to the current libero with 3.88 in 2017.

Kat Fischer from Oregon.
Plum/Bergsma/Brenner rightfully deserved the spotlight. But the Plum-Fischer connection was maybe the most fun to watch because of the range of shots Fischer had and the wrinkles Oregon had in its offense to get her loose.
I still remember this kill at 31:22 (5-3 OU second set):
