Chantele satele
Overshadowed by All americans throughout her career, but she was one hell of a player and so consitant.
Not to mention the power she had in her shots. Wish we had her for four years.
Same with Sarah Mason. One of my all time favorites

Kelli Bates was underrated and forgotten? I would say so. She probably isn’t forgotten yet since it’s only been 2 years, but she didn’t win any major awards, was an incredible defender and was always willing to play any position she was asked. She didn't win any traditional awards because she didn't have the stats to do so but she was recognized and adored by teammates and fans and won the team's "bring it" award, which is basically for all the things you said she did for the team. I don't think she fits here.

Husker Kayla Banwarth never got the accolades/respect she should have. She got a bronze medal at the Olympics?

I don't think she fits here. I'm just speaking for myself in this situation. I'm sure she was loved by her teammates and fans, but for myself who is not a part of the Badger program, I think she fits this category. She didn't win any high accolades and I don't think teams really keyed on her much, but she was still a highly vital piece for the Wisconsin program all 4 years. I'd just say she'd be forgotten by most of the volleyworld.

I know I have posted some names which are from teams over a decade ago - Stanford had some lean, tough years from '05 'til 2016 - here's two more: Tara Conrad and Sarah McGee, 2001. CLUTCH.

If she didn’t drop out she could’ve really done something. Now she’s coaching a 16 #2 boys club team

More recently, I think a player who was not necessarily underrated or forgotten, but maybe overshadowed - is Madison Rigdon. Havili and Payne seemed to always steal the spotlight (both deserving), but Rigdon was that six-rotation outside who was such a stabilizing force. Not flashy, she was amazingly consistent and got better every year and turned into a fantastic player.
Shame the highest national honors she received - AVCA All-American Honorable Mention - thought that might have to do with her mid-season injury.

I really liked rigdon and, as this thread suggests, completely forgot about her.
