The announcer was SUPER annoying on that highlight reel. And very obsessed with Sun and LHE. "Look at the distance Lexi Sun covers to keep that ball in play." Should have been, "look at the distance Maloney covered to save the shanked dig by Sun". But that Nuneviller sequence was money. "Shanked dig?" Maloney's rundown was more "impressive" but it was still a great dig by Sun.

The Meaning of ba's comment was about the fawning, over-adoring, duplicitous plus smarmy announcing (ignoring the Other (winning) team)

Sure, it was in the opposite direction, but it was still a good up. And why would the announcer discuss Stanford...? It's a single play on a highlight reel - you expect him to say "Great play by Nebraska but Stanford still beat them?"

Are you saying that the overly adoring, overly fawning, duplicitous, plus smarmy, announcer (thanks, @dirtrider5 for the perfect adjectives) was correct in his commentary, "Look at the distance covered by Sun to chase down that ball??!"

Nope, never said that. I was refuting your description of it as a "shank." Of course I think Kenzie should have gotten the recognition. But I don't think it's accurate to discredit Sun in doing so. It was a good up by Sun, and a great rundown by Kenzie.

As a former coach/player (as many of us are, here); All I can say - for us - is: "Kimosabe: who do you mean, *we*?" (Tonto to The Lone Ranger; at T.L.R.'s final ambush!)

I really feel bad lexi at this point: She goes through HELL on this board almost everyday, wether it be people saying she sucks, or diminishing her talente, or all the snarky comments.
She seems like a LOVELY girl, whos always so happy, yet she gets this kind of crap. Do we not remember what Ebony said in her blog? Volleytalk can DESTROY these girls and almost all of them read it, and she encourages them to stay off.
So can we please start just being decent human beings to this girl. Thanks

As VolleyTalk posters traditionally use the word. As Merriam Webster defines it. "to mis-hit (a golf ball or shot) with the extreme heel of the club so that the ball goes off in an unintended direction" It was not an easy dig. It was a good up. Our standard shouldn't be that she should have put that right on top of the setter at 3 m line for it not to be a "shank." Hell, if that had been Hentz making that diving dig, you all would be praising her.

Thanks ACTUALLY, the recent conversation was about a fawning reporter (and a Not-So-Great-dig by Sun). FYI: There's some Direct, Inside information that contravenes ^above^

You better call the Pac-12 then and let them know Hentz shanked 3 balls in their 2017 highlight reel of her then, according to your lofty "shank" standards. 3 highlights where she dug the ball and sent it back over the net, i.e. the "unintended direction." :07 :30 :32
