Hawaii had their best shot at a title last season. It's going to be an uphill climb for Hawaii with more Power 5 schools getting more established in their programs with top-tier recruits and coaches.

Hawaii will be fine. It's beach volleyball, it'll still be a West Coast/East Coast game (There is only one Power 5 Conference that plays Beach Volleyball- The Pac 12) like it is now, with the same major players.

If the P5 schools get all the top tier US players, then what will happen is the smaller schools will have to use more indoor crossovers or go international to "even out the odds". Right now, there is enough talent to spread around.
UCLA have a good balance of beach only(McNamara twins and Lily Justine) and some indoor crossover(Muno, Savy, May). Same with Pepperdine. Hawaii doing away with crossovers will hurt the beach team. Hawaii will have a hard time getting many blue chippers so its important that they give some indoor players a chance to see if they can become good beach players....ala Emily Maglio.
I do hope Robyn and Jeff can work something out. I am against letting just anyone play beach like a few years ago where half the indoor team played beach. There were players who were average indoor players playing beach and were not close to making any flights. They were essentially wasting everybody's time. Not that good at indoor and not that good at beach. A player like that should pick one and focus on one.
It's better to be good at one sports than to be junk in both.

You guys are adopting indoor volleyball concerns and applying it to beach volleyball. Doesn’t work that way. I’d rather Hawaii have no crossover players.

I don’t understand the reluctance to let crossovers play. 4 of the recipient of awards this weekend’s tournament were indoor players. Courtney Bowen from Stanford, Julia Scoles from UH, Sarah Sponcil from UCLA and Chandler Cowell were all indoor players. I just think they provide more power and athleticism to the beach game where finesses rules.
I mean..the most decorated USB beach players were former indoor players ...Missy May, Kerri Walsh and April Ross.

If Mags and Huddleston can't get the chemistry going consistently, then I like the following lineup (though I don't think it will happen):
Maglio and Ozee Martin and Napolean Scoles and Homayun Loker and Huddleston Dreeuws and Banz
Martin and Napolean work well together and both the #1 and #2 flights would still be really solid and challenge each other. Huddleston worked well with Loker during the Fall camp. I wouldn't mind seeing Banz and Russo as well. Or, rotate in various players at the #5 flight depending on the matchup to try out different combinations and so the lower flights get some development.
Or
Maglio and Martin Ozee and Huddleston (or Napolean) Scoles and Homayun Loker and Napolean (or Huddleston) Dreeuws and Banz
Or
Martin and Ozee Maglio and Napolean Scoles and Homayun Loker and Huddleston Dreeuws and Banz
Again, rotate in players into the 5 and 6 depending on the matchup (or until we find the right pair for flight #5). Flight one and two same thing.

My concern is Pani being only 5-7. She will have a rough time against teams with size. I was wondering if Kylin Loker is good enough to move to the 2. Then the lineups can be:
#1 Martin/Ozee #2Maglio/Loker #3Scoles/Homuyan #4Huddleston/Napolean #5 Deeeuws/Banz or Russo

I don’t see a reason Huddleston cannot drop to flight #4. She was predominantly a flight #5 player most of her career and she got bumped to flight 1 or 2 this season due to lack of depth. I guess some coaches can protest but if you look at her past career and look at her record or play this season at 1 or 2, you can make a case she is a flight 4 level player.

The movement would apply to Napolean as well if she were the one to move up. I'm not sure if the protest rule makes a difference? I think only the flight #6 player can move into any of the flights or does it have to be a "substitute" player not in the lineup? Maybe the only option, for now, is what BIK suggested. Maglio/Martin and Ozee/Huddleston, or Maglio/Ozee and Martin/Huddleston. Still, I would rather see them try a change rather than let Maglio and Huddleston struggle silently (that was a joke because they are both quiet) lol.
