Called the Chaim-beer combo a while back. Makes too much sense and Chaim is the perfect steady eddy that Jeremy needs aside from also needing and elite defender. I’m surprised that Jeremy seems to have committed to more international play. He hasn’t had much of a thirst for it in the past. Also even more interesting is that Zaun just got back from a lengthy training camp in Brazil with Casebeer. I don’t think many of us thought the combo would last the season but given the offseason investment I surely thought they would start the season together. After all, Casebeer is only 30 years old! This could be misinterpreted based on whether it’s coming from a 24 year old or a 42 year old. Lol. I know my sarcasm detector is showing “error message”

What does this say about Zaun, NOBODY wants to play with this guy for an extended period of time. Who's he left with now? Loomis, split blocking?

I know my sarcasm detector is showing “error message” I meant to say that he seems like he’s played for a long time but he’s just 30 years old. So he’s around the same age as Chaim. But I imagine Chaim will be playing with Theo after this Olympics.

Dentler makes sense but once you get to that upper qually tier, a lot of buddying up seems to go on. He’s in no mans land. He should call someone like Webber. Logan is quiet and unemotional enough to coexist but damn that’s a big step down for Zaun. I don’t see any obvious answers for him. The weird part is he’s such a weird likable guy off the court but a lunatic on it.

And I’ve just never been sold on Theo as a player. I think he is greatly overvalued based on one skill and a complete lack of any other complimentary skills. And I don’t see him getting better. Chaim’s ceiling is pretty fixed with Jeremy but I don’t know how much better he would be with Theo. G2 would tell you this would be a good opportunity for split blocking but as much as I love Casebeer, his instincts and reactions off the net seem horrid and I don’t think he could be even serviceable as a defender. Certainly no better than Chaim.

Dentler & Webber seem like only options unless there's someone we're forgetting, may have to split block some if can't land blocker. It's been all downhill for Eric since he dumped Ed, the second time.

Their combined points get them into no major tournaments, will be playing one & two star tourneys.

Certainly no better than Chaim. Jeremy is the should be split blocking poster boy because 1) His block is not a difference maker. On the AVP its good, on the FIVB its weak, but its not changing things for his team. 2) Him blocking impedes his main point scoring asset, his serve. If he is playing with Chaim its probably a slight disadvantaged to have Chaim block because Chaim's block is probably a 3 of 10, whereas Jeremy's is a 4, but that loss is more than made up for by Jeremy hitting his serve 100%. Another option for that team would be split blocking on the good side and Jeremy going up on the bad, but its important to keep that serve in play, its the best point scoring tool that team has.

Duncan Budinger could be an attractive choice for Zaun??? At a minimum it's a very heavy serving team

Duncan Budinger could be an attractive choice for Zaun??? At a minimum it's a very heavy serving team That may be right in terms of best available but wow Zaun has fallen off a cliff. From rising star to partner prospects including a 34 year old part time player who was 0-3 in qualifiers last year.

He played against Chase and Rosie on stadium court in one of the events.

Heard from Troy that he'll be partnering with Bombgren now, tough break for Loomis. Very interesting team. Especially if they split block.
