I would not want to use a wildcard for a 3* tournament. Especially since the real season hasn’t even started yet! Well, it's not like that a team gets to choose a tournament for their Wild Card. A team has to apply and if it gets lucky it receives the Wild Card. There's no guarantee that e.g. Patterson/Budinger will get a Wild Card for a 4* or 5* tournament later this season. True true. Especially since there are no more US tournaments, Casey will have bigger competition to get a WC at the other stops.

don’t talk “for effect” you dimwit. just say stuff with substance. i see your hilarious joke of changing numbers on names of things is still going Yo tool, try answering the question, do you think those two should be flying to Sydney, given this competition? Talk about substance free, your posts have the nutritional value of a Ding Dong.

Looks like Bill/Miles got a qualifier wild card and Field/Frishman dropped out.
So for CQ: Zaun plays Reid, winner plays Patterson.

are we sure it’s not happening stateside? My twitter exchange w/ USA Beach Replying to JB Southpaw @fivbvolleyball There will not be a CQ for Sydney in the U.S. We are only holding U.S. CQs for FIVB four- and five-star events if necessary. The next scheduled U.S CQ will be on Feb. 26 for Doha. Stay tuned for more info.

Doesn’t USAV provide some funding for travel to a three star? That seems like a waste of money for the CQ teams.

Zero growth to the game with 5 spectators.

If the teams were smart, they'd hire a couple refs and do it on their own. Especially if they have to play it prior to the qualifier in the early morning. Without seeming to endorse the modern generation's lack of fitness, it is likely a disadvantage to play two matches almost back to back then have to do two more in the qualifier very soon thereafter. (Assuming the lowest ranked team wins)

Would love to watch that Reid/Jeremy match, get someone Down Under to Facebook it. I may go to this event. If I do, and if I can get a response from the organizers that tells where and when the CQ matches will happen, if internet is available, blah, blah Ill see about streaming it. I think that Reid/Theo v Jeremy/Zaun match could be one of the best of the event. When the winner plays Casey on the other hand, Ill probably be looking to sleep off the jet lag.

I'll follow along via interweb, but this tournament doesn't excite me all that much on the men's side.
