I may go to this event. If I do, and if I can get a response from the organizers that tells where and when the CQ matches will happen, if internet is available, blah, blah Ill see about streaming it. I think that Reid/Theo v Jeremy/Zaun match could be one of the best of the event. When the winner plays Casey on the other hand, Ill probably be looking to sleep off the jet lag. I'll follow along via interweb, but this tournament doesn't excite me all that much on the men's side. Definitely not a great field but all the early season ones look pretty lousy. I wanted to go to the one in KL, but no one seems to be playing that one and I thought about Doha, but its men only, and Qatar is both unpleasant politically and dull as dirt

Zaun/Casebeer have pulled out. CQ is now only between Patterson/Budinger and Brunner/Priddy

Zaun/Casebeer have pulled out. CQ is now only between Patterson/Budinger and Brunner/Priddy USA Volleyball is really crap. There is no reason this CQ should happen in Australia and absent an injury they should sanction teams that pull out this late. I guess Ill be skipping qualifier day now. Doubt Jeremy/Eric had a chance to make it through 2 matches but it would have been nice to see them play one or two, they are a very interesting team.

Apparently Zaun was denied a parking permit for his van house.

I still see Gibb/Crabb listed on the FIVB site. I thought I read in another thread that Jake was nursing a knee injury. Are they actually playing Sydney or did they pull out?

They pulled out of Doha (next week). Taylor shoulda dumped Jake for Tri, big mistake. Thats a partnership he can likely get whenever he wants it. Also Tri's health is far from proven and who even knows if he can physically withstand blocking full time. Best strategy may be to sit back and let Tri get some points with Trevor and be sure that he is healthy etc. That's if you assume that the incredibly undersized team of Tri/Taylor could score points, and I am not sure how they would do that. Vultures will definitely start circling if it turns out Jake is seriously injured. Body doesnt bounce back at age 43 the way it once did, but I think the best option for Taylor would be a giant blocker who would help him form an elite point scoring team. I don't see Taylor as siding out well enough to succeed at a high level on a team that struggles to score, as all undersized teams do. Theo is not as good as Tri, but I think Theo/Taylor is a better team than Tri/Taylor because on both teams I think Taylor gets most of the serves and Theo/Taylor is a much better point scoring team. (Possible Theo's weaker setting may be a problem for Theo/Taylor though)

Thanks tamz No Doha this year. Maybe if it were a dual gender or if there were some time between them (and it weren't Qatar)
