I'd hardly consider those examples of "rubbing your nose in it" And sometimes these spring scrimmages are held in practice gyms instead of regular arenas, and there isn't that much room for spectator seating, so they don't really publicize it Yeah I get that not everyone wants to make a big spectacle of it like the D1 schools. So why mention it at all? This could have been done via PM. And no, it is certainly not the most egregious example of what I am being complainy about. Just the most recent. But as long as they brought it up, how about a score? Oh well. I guess that it is human nature when you have to keep a secret up until a certain date that you are going to want to blurt it out once you can. Sometimes one (or both) of the schools isn't comfortable going public with their game yet. Once a D1 Basketball team played my eldest son's D2 team in a preseason scrimmage, and the D1 asked that only family come and no cameras be in use(!!). They must have known the outcome because that D1 would not have wanted that one publicized. Wish I had secretly filmed it!

So why mention it at all? This could have been done via PM. Sometimes team volleyball accounts will talk about fun/interesting things that happen in their practices or other team activities. I find these snippets can often be nice ways to get a bit of a connection to the team. I'm not gonna get all whiney about them talking about something just because they didn't invite me to the practice. I don't see how this is really all that different.

The D3 team in my example almost certainly took the D2 team out behind the woodshed.
