So, I saw my eye doctor today. Optometrist. My vision is pretty good. I wear glasses but I can actually get by without them. Sometimes, I don't even bother with glasses, especially when I'm engaged in some sporting activity. Heck, I sometimes don't wear my glasses when I'm driving. I can see things clearly.
Today, my optometrist told me that my overall DISTANCE vision improved despite the fact that I'm getting older. However, my reading vision has gone down, which I suspected. I've had to actually hold books closer to my face, which is a pain in the arse. In sum, I can opt to get new DISTANCE glasses with thinner lenses because my vision improved, but I will need to get a separate pair of READING glasses. The latter is new for me. I never thought I'd see the day I would need reading glasses.
My optometrist said this is not what happens to normal people. Usually, people's DISTANCE vision worsens with age and they normally have to take OFF their glasses to read if they don't have reading glasses. In my case, it's the opposite.
Beyond that, my eye looks 100% healthy. Everything in the right place. Even the third eye.

My recollection is that if you are near sighted it usually gets worse with age but the trend slows down and eventually reverses slightly. Those who are significantly near-sighted usually need to take off their glasses to read small text due to the onset of presbyopia. Progressive lenses are a fix for many people where most of the lens corrects for near-sightedness, and a small ovular section at the bottom of the lens magnifies (much like "readers") AND corrects. Note, in low light you may still have to take off your glasses to read small text.

Same thing happened to me. Distance vision was blurry, so went to the eye doc. She said my prescription was too strong, my distance vision had improved. I have one contact for distance, one for reading. My glasses are bifocals, but I hate them. Usually end up taking them off to read, or post on Volleytalk.

Flu.
My health is sh@t.
As for far-sightedness improving. That happens. Just before you lose all sight.

I noticed around age 50 that my butt hurt after running. I didn't know what that was except that perhaps my butt muscles atrophied. Since then, I've done exercises incorporating the glutes (the butt muscles) and they've helped but it takes a lot more effort to maintain it.

Also check for rats in your underwear. Another common problem.

What a coincidence. After putting up this thread, I may now be sick. Sore throat. Mild fever. My ears feel like they're muted. Hot eye balls. It's the first time I've been sick in years.

I swear by the Traditional Medicinal boxed teas. My wife loves them. Whenever she's on the verge of getting sick, she drinks these Traditional Medicinal teas and she avoids sickness altogether. I rarely get sick but whenever I've had a slight fever or sore throat, I intake these teas. Works like a charm! They're kind of on the expensive side but once in a while, they're on sale. They're all based on some proprietary formula containing Echinacea, known to have immune boosting and anti-infection properties. Also, voodoo magic.

Hot eyeballs I want to just end it all when I get that feverish hot eyeballs pain thing (I can’t read and doze) BTW that is pretty classic flu symptom early tamaflu can shorten the duration of illness

I'm over my cold. No sore throat, no fever, no cough, no headache, no body ache. However, my voice is cracked like I just entered puberty. Lots of phlegm.
