Those guys can make $10,000+ coaching indoor from December to May in California. That doesnt even include individual lessons which can get them $40-$60 an hour. They have limited expenses, some have family. And some even have part time jobs working at the indoor facilities and probably make bank from it so the clubs can associate their names to the club. I can absolutely see why some of them dont go to Florida. Troy Field is one example of the above. People pay Troy to coach? I guess Loiola ended up as a coach so anything is possible.

The players can carry a lot of cachet to the youth club levels. Its a name in the volleyball world associated with their club. The players do know a thing or 2 about the game, and outside of a handful of coaches on the ultra competitive national teams, clubs are ALWAYS looking for committed people that can work with each's schedule. The ones that really know how to teach the technical part of the game can teally make a lot of money in the youth club level.
It is absolutely absurd what theses parents will pay for their kids at the club level.

"Really knowing how to teach the technical part of the game" is not a prerequisite however. If the parents or the kids vaguely know the name of the "pro" that's coaching them, and they pop up on a Google search as anything resembling a professional athlete...they will pay for the props they will get from rubbing other parents' faces in it, that their daughter is being trained by a pro.

Ha, Dig the Beach events are my main tournaments; I’ve played with/against nearly every name on that bracket. Very well run events, pretty good level as well. But I don’t think the Cali guys would go cross-country to split a $2600 pot. Burik is the last Cali guy I’ve seen out there; played with Palm against Piotr/Schalk in the finals.

Isn't Schalk a Cali guy now?

They were here for the big money Gold event in the fall... a purse 5x a normal size event. Chaim/Lane, Burik, Falyn, Honer all flew in for that one.
Last month Ben Vaught was here and took like a 7th or 9th, as was Kyle Friend (though he doesn’t count since he is actually a FL guy).
Would it be awesome to see more Cali guys come this way for a few yes, but doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Pretty sure the girls that got second are FAU commits.. Kim and Bree both getting a third has to be an upset, right?

Piotr and Chase won while running a very quick offense. Not Adrian fast, but it was quick and gave Chase some different opportunities to help his offense.
