After this weekends tournaments (and due to boredom) I figured I would take a stab at my predictions for this weeks Top 10 rankings (Previous Week's Rank in Parentheses):
AA:
1. Manheim Central (7): What a weekend for them after making it to the semifinals at NA, beating Ambridge twice in pool play.
2. Ambridge (2): Good showing this weekend at NA, beating Derry and Exeter
3. Meadville (3): Standing pat this week after not participating in any tournaments that I know of
4. Holy Redeemer (4): Same situation as Meadville
5. York Suburban (10): Beat both Hempfield and Penn Manor to win the Joust this weekend, and the scary thing is it looks like they could still improve
6. Derry (1): Had a rough showing this weekend after losing in the first round and getting last in their pool, although their pool was stacked
7. Lower Dauphin (5): Got swept by Lancaster Mennonite at the joust, but with the team still jelling after basketball season, still plenty of time for this group
8. Saegertown (6): Only dropped because of other teams performances from this weekend, always a threat to compete for the title
9. Maplewood (8): No competitions in the past week that I know of
10. Seton Lasalle Catholic (9): Again, no competitions this week that I know of
Honorable Mention: Lancaster Mennonite - Really impressed me with their play at Hempfield this past weekend, their libero and team defense overall were incredible
AAA:
1. Central York (6): Won the tournament at NA, and beat some quality teams (Exeter, Northeastern, Ambridge) to do so
2. Northeastern (2): Impressive showing as usual, once everyone gets up to speed, watch out
3. Exeter (4): I expected them to eventually make some noise this season, but not this early. Beating NA was huge
4. North Allegheny (1): Obviously not the result they wanted this weekend, but I only see this as a minor setback
5. Cumberland Valley (5): This team will go as far as Liprando can carry them, had a pretty good showing at NA
6. Hempfield (3): With a lot of players with minimal varsity experience, it looks like they need a little time to grow, but still an immensely talented group
7. Whitehall (7): Excited to see what this team can do
8. Warwick (8): Stuck with NA and Cumberland Valley this weekend, could definitely challenge Hempfield in the LL League
9. State College(9): No competitions that I know of this past week
10. Bethel Park (10): Similar to State College
Honorable Mentions: Penn Manor - Finished runner-up at Hempfield's tournament, plays Hempfield this week, so a lot will be learned there
Chambersburg- Looks like a talented team early in the season, need to pick up some wins though before getting serious consideration
Feel free to comment your opinions, it is starting to look like a highly competitive season for both AA and AAA this year!
