The KIVA college tournament April 6 has appeared in several of the spring schedules? Just wondering if it would be worth the drive to see the various teams competing.

Well so far it looks like Louisville, Kentucky, and Illinois. At least two of those are being mentioned as Top Ten in 2019. Sounds like that would be worth a drive if you're in driving distance.

Last year I believe there were 16 teams in the tournament, at least 1/2 power 5 schools. My wife and daughters went and said it was good to watch the early games, but it got so overcrowded for a club facility as it got closer to noon and later that they ended up just getting out of there. If you don't mind elbowing for room, it would be worth the trip.
Also, I believe KIVA published the schedule on their Facebook page as the date got closer, so maybe keep an eye out for that.

If I remember right, last year they scheduled this during world challenge. Excellent idea by all of the people that put this on because it allows college coaches to recruit and do a spring tournament, and to attract the volleyball audience for both events.

By the way, the KIVA facility just had a makeover, the space didn't get bigger bit the place looks brand new with new court surface and significantly brighter.
Just saying.

Just a side note that April 6th is also the final week-end of Louisville's 'Humana Festival of New American Plays'. This is the 43rd year of the Festival presented by the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Let me give a plug for the city of Louisville from the Festival's notes, "the Humana Festival is the premier event of its kind in the nation, drawing theatre lovers, journalists, and film and stage producers from around the world. About 38,000 patrons attend the six weeks of plays and associated events, including students from more than 50 colleges and universities. The Festival culminates in two industry weekends, which bring together a collection of amazing new plays with one-of-a-kind panels, cocktail parties, discussions and networking events. It is the perfect opportunity to see new work, make new connections, and support the creation of new American theatre." I have no idea how much overlap there is between college women's volleyball fans and theatre fans, although my husband has attended the Humana Festival in Louisville for about the last 35 years. I would much rather attend the Kiva College Volleyball Tourney. This year a local University of Illinois grad and acclaimed Broadway director, Mark Brokaw, has directed one of the new plays.

If it motivates you to go any more than just watching college teams, you can see a lot of future college athletes right down the road at JVA World Challenge, one of the better juniors tournaments
