SC won't suffer this season at all. The Bruins are the team to beat, but SC showed UCLA is very beatable, and may well do it next time they meet. The differences between the colleges is diminishing, and that will continue as the talent pool grows. Quit hating Butfan and enjoy the show.

You can take an L at the 1&2 spots and still win a match.

Let's remember May/Simo were playing up a spot at 3 instead of 4 due to Muno being out due to illness. And they still came very close to winning.
The only spot that USC is clearly equal to if not better than UCLA is #1 with Bustamante/Graudina.
Oh and UCLA also played 2 true freshmen that hadn't played together at all this season at #4 and they won pretty handily.

UCLA is a very good team with great depth. USC is all smoke and mirrors this season.

Comments on UCLA-USC make no sense to me. That was a close match for the Bruins, and the two I saw on TV could have gone the other way. Yeah, I know, Muno, freshman, blah, blah, blah, but UCLA has several matches while SC is just getting started. I didn't see the total dominance that the SC-haters did.

UCLA wins 3-2 for second straight year at USC DailyBruin.com: "On court one, seniors Megan and Nicole McNamara dropped their first match of the year, losing to the Trojan pair of Tina Graudina and Abril Bustamante." McNamara’s game was not up to their normal standard, said UCLA head coach Stein Metzger. "They were just a little off. And they would admit the same thing. Their ball control, their serving, just everything was a bit off." Metzger: "We have a great freshman class. It’s the biggest and probably strongest we’ve ever brought into UCLA."

I was just going to ask where Muno was because I noticed that May and Simo are the usual #4 pair (at least so far this season).

Well, the two freshies have played together for years, so it’s not like they had introduce themselves. USC’s 4’s and 5’s are going to be a headache for Collier, I think.

Also, just thoughts on USC-UCLA-LMU
USC can beat anyone on any given night. I'd be shocked if anybody beats Tina and Abril.
UCLA basically has two court ones and three court twos. They're that good. Their depth is silly. It'll take all the right things to happen at once for anyone not named USC, Pepperdine or Hawai'i to beat them. Even then, it's almost a stretch.
LMU is my dark horse to make Gulf Shores. They're legit. Love Mayer's work with them.
