Sponcil and Justine just killing Cannon/Slater. Poor control from the Trojans on several courts tonight.

SC is good but vulnerable at this early stage. It is going to be a very competitive season!

Don’t see how USC could be cocky playing the defending Pac-12 and National champs who already have played 5 matches. Considering that the unanimous number 1 team escaped with a 3-2 victory by only 4 points, I’d say USC will push UCLA and vice versa.

Arrogant is better. UCLA will stomp on them in the rematch later this season.

USC is almost automatic at that #1 spot. For them, it's really about getting two wins from their remaining four pairs. It will be difficult against teams that are deep like UCLA, however, it's doable.

... Cocky is not the right word. Arrogant is better. ... That's a pretty subtle distinction. From the dictionary: "cocky": "Overly confident, arrogant and boastful." So just arrogant, but not overly confident and boastful?

USC splits with UCLA and LMU in Season-opener p1440.com/news/usc-splits-with-ucla-and-lmu-in-season-opener"It’s the closest we’ve ever been to beating them [USC]," LMU head coach John Mayer said. "It’s the best team by far that we’ve ever had. Last year, we had a good team but this year we’re really good. I feel confident going up against anybody. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever felt, going up against a team like USC, that we had a decent shot to win the match."

UCLA won the SC match, so congrats to them. It was close, and I'm looking forward to the next time USC and the Bruins take the court. I said earlier that the Trojans will have the best pair in beach this season, and wow, were their 1's impressive. On the other end of the scale was Joy on the 4's pair. Granted I wasn't there to watch the contest, but she seemed hesitant and slow. Anyone there who thinks the same? Hard to imagine, considering the talent on USC's roster, that there isn't someone able to take her spot. The season is certainly young and all teams should improve, so lets get rocking and see what happens.

If you have the Pac12 channel or app, you may be able to find it there.

USC womens volleyball is going down.
