i did find it interesting that after the dual was sealed and the players all piled on top of each other, CSM went wandering around with no one to celebrate and eventually high-fived his assistant coaches. I saw the opposite. Of course he's not going to jump into the pile, but as soon as the players unpiled, several went right up to Steino and hugged him .. not just a little courtesy hug, but a real hug of appreciation for what they built together... especially the seniors. Then later he was part of a victory huddle where they were chanting and jumping up and down. The players definitely welcomed him in. That is not always the case with coaches.

I prefer that they play all five at once, like in the early rounds. They shouldn't make some players wait, just for TV. Give them all a chance to be the deciding point. TV can switch from court to court depending on what's happening on each. That's just me. All 5 at once wouldn't guarantee an hour and a half of TV programming. The whole thing could be over in 45 minutes that way. In the early rounds, you at least had several schedule matches back to back, and only the very last match has a chance of ending early, which isn't as big a deal on ESPNU, but is a huge deal on ESPN.

It was a good season. The competition has improved greatly, and will only continue to grow. Congratulations to the participants. I'm a USC fan, but not a hater of any other school. I said (a few times) during the season that SC's 4 pair was the weak point of their team. The 5's had a lower win percentage, but the 4's should have been better considering experience and coaching attention. That said, they did improve late in the season, but not enough. The 1's were tremendous, 2's good, and 3's very strong. The Bruins were the best NCAA team and deserved to win. Their coach is an absolute jerk, but he did put a strong team together. I'm afraid that my Trojans have a steep road ahead next year, but maybe a transfer or two could make a noticeable difference. They have a good freshmen class lined up, but so does UCLA. Both schools will need some immediate help from their newbies, and growth from some soon to be sophomores. A special thanks to Sandball for an amazing job this season; that was incredible work. Couple of months off and the indoor games begin. Good luck to all.

UCLA brings in small, but talented, 2020 recruiting class Features.DailyBruin.com: "After losing five seniors, the Bruins are set to add a few new faces next season. No. 1 UCLA has three recruits slated to join the two-time defending champion 2020 squad: Lexy Denaburg, Rileigh Powers and Devon Newberry." UCLA head coach Stein Metzger: "The three recruits we brought in are highly sought-after, blue-chip kids that are winning at an early age. They’re beating college players already in high school."
