They move players up and down groups based on how they play. No need to fret about Friday waves.

Well...it didn't take long for the 2nd Wave to knock out 3 out of the 4 court cameras...just in warm-up. :-)

Well 3 of the 4 camera's are pointing down now. But watching the first wave was fun.

Wow. The roster is missing most of the top talent. I know some of it has to do with team trips and other conflicts, but last years roster had much more talent in it. If I remember everyone from reading, which I hope I did, only 1 first team AA trying out out in samedy?? I too wondered the same thing. A lot of big names missing. Quade

I see Torrey Van Winden's name on the roster. Can she play? I mean her season ending injury was really serious.

Tess Reid put up the most consistent setting today but damn she barely gets her hands over the Net.

Love her game - you can tell she works her @ss off and she has gotten better and better every year. Hard to tell. Very few good connections with the middles in day 1, and this was on all courts. But she transitions very fast off the net to try and attack that poor slide set

This tryout shows how terrible NCAA opposites are backrow. Obviously the huge substitution numbers limit how many 6 rotation OPPs there are, but the ball control and defensive touches in zone 1 were really bad, and the hitting was even worse. The setting was also pretty freaking bad for those D balls.

That being said, if you are going to list potential standouts from what you've seen so far, who will they be?

The setting was also pretty freaking bad for those D balls. Agreed. Don't think most of them are pro/international player material. That being said, if you are going to list potential standouts from what you've seen so far, who will they be? I pretty much only watched the white waves yesterday and earlier today (like 15 minutes this afternoon). Yesterday there were a lot more touches defensively among all courts, both on the block and floor D. Today was, IMO, a lot of sloppy play. It was really hard to discern any standout middles or opposites because the connections offensively just weren't there, and the blockers didn't have to guess much. As mentioned before, Mohlers speed really stood out to me, I thought Reid put up the most consistent sets today in the white group. Yesterday, Pritchard had some nice plays all around...she LOOKS like she should be a quality OH. Samedy had the best backcourt touches, by far, of the opposites I saw, but, that's not surprising. Fitzmorris looked sluggish out there, frequently putting balls half way into the net. Bannister had the best looking kills when she got a good ball (I saw one go literally over a towering block). I don't follow Kansas State ball, but Mutiri looks like she could be a great RS attacker (though I could be confusing her with Shields from South Carolina...the numbers are a bit hard to read sometimes). Re the setters, I actually thought Powell looked pretty solid and setter 70 had some nice sequences. But mostly it seemed uninspired play today. I don't think the libero's really get to shine because to often hard cross court balls were falling half way into the net and tips on bad connections were being shot way out of bounds.
