The dates of the Olympic qualifier in Russia does not give any time to transition to the Pan Am Games in Peru. I would guess that the A team will be heading to Russia on July 29 for an event that finishes Aug 4. To then make it to Peru to compete during the next week in the Pan Am Games would not be possible. I believe there is another Norceca event in USA later in August which will provide additional matches. I like the look of the Pan Am Games roster. They should be very strong in the serve/pass department and it is just plain fun to watch Sara Kovac (LMU) and Sarah Chase (Saint Marys)!

I understand the competition dates make it difficult, but not impossible.
I also like Chase and Kovac and know them well. However, I do think that you need to develop the core team of younger players that are currently on the travel roster in order for a team to progress and get to the next level of international competition. Spreading out the limited opportunities over a lot of players isn't necessarily the answer. Canada doesn't have the depth and the opportunities that countries like the USA have to do this. They need to develop their top players as much as possible and players who wants to be in the mix have to work really hard to make the A squad. Then, the team will have the best players.

Seems like Canada is still looking for the right combination of players after Autumn Bailey's injury. I think they will have to take a look at playing Van Ryk or Mitrovic on the left. However they desparetly need passing from that position which results in Chase playing. Was also kind of surprised that Kyla Richey didn't play in Russia.

Does anyone know when the Norcea Championships are? All I can find is “Early next Year”. Wondering who will be available to play in that?

So, we have Dominican Republic, Canada, and Puerto. My money is on Dominican Republic.

So that makes me curious who will be available for practicing and playing? Don’t know anything about the pro team schedules but I know USport starts very early in January....

Are there any players playing USport that will likely make this roster? The team probably won't do much in the way of practicing. Maybe a week beforehand if they are lucky? NCAA players will be available and pro teams are still playing but will release players for National Team Commitments. Bailey just had her surgery, so it is doubtful she will be ready.

Brie King? - she seemed to be in the Sr Team by the end of summer. Plus coach Josephson from TWU will be mid season with his Spartans Men’s Team.
