There's no option for both. Sorry y'all. I'm making you pick your loyalties. This is really tough for me. On one hand, I want to see Larson take home the gold, so she'll have a nice collection of gold, silver, and bronze from the Olympics. On the other hand, I want Nebraska to win their sixth national championship, and to continue our streak of being in the final four and competing for championships. I'm going to pick USA winning Olympic Gold in Tokyo in 2020. As much as I disagree with Karch's decisions, I still love those girls and they deserve the gold. I'll wait for 2020 in Omaha for my team to win another title.

I chose NCAA Title, as a fan. As a player, I'd want the Gold. I have a stronger connection to college volleyball than I do international competition. A volleyball gold medal would be great, but that is generally just as a national pride thing. I can get my national pride fix anywhere.

Olympic gold (but not volleyball)
NCAAs are for kids.
Short story: In the 7th grade, my ultimate goal was to win an Olympic gold medal in either the marathon or boxing. (This was immediately after the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976) I just thought I could excel at both. One Sunday, my family took me to a park for a picnic. I decided to run the perimeter of this park, which was roughly 1.1 miles. After about half a mile, I was out of gas. (This was the first time I attempted long distance running.) It was then that I gave up the marathon. I wanted to join a boxing gym but my parents said they didn't know of any nearby. So, that was that. (I suspect they knew but they didn't want me participating in that sport.)
So, yeah, no Olympic medals of any kind.

This is apples and oranges. Both is the correct answer.

For an athlete, this isn’t even close. Olympic Gold all day every day. As a fan, a Husker national title would always be my preference.

I think it would be cool to return to my Alma Mater and see a NCAA Championship banner hanging from the rafters, picture of the team in the Hall of Fame building, etc.

Olympic. Gold.
I want it for Foluke and Jordan.
I am also ready for some new coaching blood. Not a Karch hater....just ready for a change up.

I think I totally misread the poll question. I thought it was about my hopes and dreams, not whether I wanted my favorite volleyball team to win the NCAAs or Team USA to win gold.

Yeah, I assumed that the question is what would a player want most. Who cares what silly fans want?

Nah...I don't really care what a player wants.

For an athlete, this isn’t even close. Olympic Gold all day every day. Well, you also have to look at it from a career perspective. As an Olympic gold medallist, you'll have no trouble finding work in something sports-related or as a motivational speaker, but you basically have to make your sport your career. For many athletes (certainly most college athletes), their thinking is "I love my sport, but I don't want to make it my career". They're more than ready to move to a "regular" career path after graduation. Of course, a professional or Olympic athlete can always transition to a non-athletic career, but for many fields, this essentially means starting over.

Nah...I don't really care what a player wants. I suppose most people on this board have no personal connection to a volleyball player, current or former.

Actually, I would say that for many sports/athletes the thinking is, "I would love to get paid to play my sport professionally. But, I also need to eat"
