Not totally accurate. The points on the right side were from 2017. They changed the point level at the start of last season. I just left it in so that the WC-points can be compared. Much appreciated! (take a look at the 3rd place 5 star finish on the left table though) Thanks, corrected.

I thought there was another thread that said top three per country got in, as long as they’re in the top 23 overall. And then a fourth would be possible via NORCECA. But now it’s top two? That makes the decision to skip NORCECA qualifiers even more questionable. And now Tri is posting on IG that just by winning the NORCECA qualifier, they’ve already qualified for world champs. How confusing.

Tri posted that they need to participate, not win in Mexico. http://instagram.com/p/BvRxWi7D7M6 If they can qualify like this, I wonder what teams from Cuba, Canada, T&T, Guatemala, or Mexico feel. This can’t be correct. NORCECA can send 4 teams and that’s 5 countries already. From the World Champs website: “It’s a similar case in North America, with NORCECA sending four teams from the top four nation who are the highest ranked from their Beach Tour.” -how do they accumulate points on this “beach tour” if they play only in one tournament?? www.bvbinfo.com/Tournament.asp?ID=3697There are 6 USA men’s teams in a field of 19 teams for that Mexico event.

For Norceca entry, I believe you earn points for your federation rather than an individual team’s birth. So USA doing well with whatever random teams go to Norcecas helps USA get a birth.

I just read this on the Beach Major Series article. beachmajorseries.com/en/2606/time-for-xiamen“It’s a World Championship year and an Olympic qualification cycle so every point really does matter in Xiamen this week. For many teams this could be the final opportunity to rubber-stamp their ticket to Hamburg later this year. The final tournament to count towards World Championship qualification will come next week at the three-star event in Kuala Lumpur.” I thought the cut off date for World Champs was sometime in June... If that is the case, some teams will have absolutely no chance of going to/qualifying for World Champs.

We have a general idea of the top 3 women’s team. Therefore I think KWJ and Brooke are going the NORCECA route since USA has one spot. I see them registered for the NORCECA event next week in Nicaragua. If they can’t get in via NORCECA, their last hope is to get a WC.
This also means Brit Hochevar and Carly Wopat’s chances of going to World Champs are slim and then going to Olympics is nearly impossible.

Are we certain that Larsen & Stockman are a better team than Kerri & Brooke? Or Sara & Summer for that matter? We haven’t seen them play in forever. The next month will tell a lot I’d imagine. I get that Alex & April are a cut above Kerri & Brooke but not buying into the other two teams just yet.

Day/Flint won that one as I recall.

Hard to say at this point whether any of them have improved this offseason. I wouldn’t be surprised by any of the top six stepping up and becoming the “best” of the bunch in 2019.

But in order to qualify, they need to play in that NORCECA qualifier event. So... how does that work if they didn’t play the qualifier event a few weeks back?

Beach Major Series has replied to me on Twitter. So in other words, by April 29th, KWJ and BS would not have played in a continental tournament as they’re going to the one next week. Her last hope lies in the Wildcard to get to World Champs. That means USA will probably be sending 2T on the men’s side and Day/Flint on the women’s side. Unless Sponcil/Claes get the wildcard, they will not be at World Champs.
Hyden/Doherty and Reid/Theo should also submit their Wildcard application about now.
Qualification through continental phase deadline is 29th April. Last chance for teams to submit wildcard application 3rd May. 3rd May is also the entry deadline. 'First' entry list is 6th May. Confirmed entry list: 27th May. Drawing of Lots: 4th June.
Florida being cancelled really messed things up.
