About four months away from the start of another exciting season ... a season of bigger and better images Who is this supposed to be? prepvolleyball.com/articles/high-school/kipp-announces-herself-at-under-armour-all-america-match/414266Here is an article in prepvolleyball (free) by John Tawa discussing Kendall Kipp in the UA All-American game last December in Minneapolis. "I have seen the future of NCAA Division I volleyball and her name is Kendall Kipp. Last night, before a good-sized crowd at the 11th Annual Under Armour All-America Match in Minneapolis, the 6-4 outside hitter, playing in an exhibition featuring 24 of the finest high school seniors in the country, was the best player on the court by far in leading Team West to an easy 3-0 win over Team East. The Team West MVP showed a deft passing touch in the back row, supplied a massive block on the left side and scored with ease whether hitting left or right or crunching an attack out of the back row. I have been to five of these matches in my lifetime. Last night was the first time I ever witnessed domination like that. In a match designed to showcase peers before they make their way to the next level, Kipp quite simply had no peer."

I don't put much stock in hyperbole statements like "I have seen the future of _____________." In the 1970s, someone from Rolling Stones said something to the effect, "I have seen the future of rock & roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen." Though Springsteen had a great career, he was by no means the "future of rock & roll." In fact, here in 2019, I can't say what exactly was the future of rock & roll because it just kind of petered out and gave way to other categories. I mean, modern music has gone the way of hip-hop and country-western. But I digress...
Even in volleyball, the last time anyone could've made a statement like that would be about Logan Tom. But, like Springsteen, she had a great career but she was by no means the future of volleyball. You could even argue that Kerri Walsh and Misty May, with their cross-over success in beach volleyball was the future of beach volleyball. But indoor? Can't say who that was looking back in the 1990s from my view in 2019.

I don't either and I like to be my own judge, but I was at the Target Center in Minneapolis, a few rows from the floor for the UA HS All Star game, and my jaw dropped because Kipp was absolutely dominant. Left side, pipe hits, right side, it didn't matter, she was crushing balls to the floor. Her setters were going out of there way to get her the ball anyway they could which tells me they quickly figured out how lethal she was in the practice before the match. Kipp can be a really dominant hitter at the collegiate level, but she is not as well rounded as Tom who could do everything really well, including pass and dig.

If it wasn’t for the trojan and sc Wolfgang would be clueless PS Prisoner is a Texas guy THis is funny because in my first draft of my post, I wrote “Unless the username itself is a clue to who they root for, e.g., trojansc, I’d have no idea.” I was going to use three examples but I was too lazy to look up names, so I just deleted that sentence altogether.
