Just looking from an 18s open perspective, this tournament might have the strongest field it has had in a while. It features TVP 18s, CUVC, ECVC, Orlando Gold, and MVP academy all of which are ranked in the top 20, also it has ACAD & MVC Brad, who have both qualified for open. To top it off, it has LIVBC 17s, top in 17s i believe. I think this tournament will be the indicator of who truly is the best on the east coast. Any predictions for who is going to win?

IMO Niagara and LVC are the top two contenders looking for bids, however, only 16 r currently registered and since there r so many teams with bids Im not sure if trickle down will allow bid chasers to get their bids. Most likely i think at least 1 or 2 of the bids given to the tournament will turn into at large bids.

Their intentions are that they may just stick with that bid and try to get better leading up to nationals.

Looks like they max at 16. Probably no bids will come out of this tournament? only 4 teams left that do not have a bid (1 17s team also).

I wouldn't be upset if they got rid of this bid tournament. At Large bids were already given out, so teams that were bid hunting may now be making a pointless trip several hours away. Either disperse these bids to other bid tournaments, or make it earlier in the season.

What your stating to us technically isn’t fair to the teams on the East Coast that improved throughout the year and wants a chance for Open division and couldn’t get it at Harrisburg or Chicago or even SoCal.

What I said is either add them to other bid tournaments (did not specify locations) OR make this tournament earlier. Teams from outside the East Coast attend this tournament for the same reason, because they improved throughout the year and want a chance for Open/USA. I just don't see the point of a bid tournament if registration numbers are so small that no bids will be given out (based on trickle-down), and At-Large Bids have been given out.

I see nothing wrong with this tournament and there should be a couple this time of the year. Maybe have a tournament in the middle of the country where it is easy access for everybody to go to.

East Coast Championships gives an opportunity for teams to get an Open Bid. Pretty simple. Opportunity. There are teams still searching for bids in the East, West and the Midwest. This is also a great place for Coaches to recruit. Last year there was Loyola, Pepperdine, Lewis, USC, and UCLA to mention a few (it is tough for coaches to recruit during their season especially D3 which has the most growth). This ECC event is a great event and it supports USA efforts to give Open and USA bids. Even if there is only 16 teams in each Division. This has always been an event for PR teams, multiple Mid-West teams and last years Cali team to get an Open Bid. With the amount of Boy's bid Tournaments available in January-May who did not have at least 3 opportunities this year?? And there was plenty of travel outside of California to boot. Imagine if the good EC and MW clubs came out to California and got bids? Check your records, it has happened and will happen again. Fortunately the tournament is in the early part of January (some clubs just can't get their best players to take 4 day's off) when there is testing going on. There would have been 3 or 4 more of the power clubs showing up if it was over New Years. I really don't think the boy's are in a bad place regarding bids and or opportunities. For the first time in 8 years USA and the Boy's Qualifier Heads are getting together in May to look at the future.

predictions may be that LIVBC 17’s will take home the 18’s, there are not many strong teams in 18’s I got ECVC and TVP against Each other. Repeat of Harrisburg Semis and what I’ve been hearing, TVP wants to beat ECVC on their home turf.

how is that ECVC home turf, they’re not from richmond i thought? They’re not as strong as a team as TVP, TVP has a better setter and better hitters. ECVC has no setter to lead that team, which is only a little talented.

Our club travels a lot and its not for bids. We got our bid in SoCal and then traveled. We travel to develop the athlete, to enjoy the sport, and to hone our competitive skills against different competition. Our boys have developed friendships with kids across the country some of whom they will play again in college. There are many reasons to travel.
