SO your saying you that you just want bid tourneys in Chicago and SoCal then. What your stating to us technically isn’t fair to the teams on the East Coast that improved throughout the year and wants a chance for Open division and couldn’t get it at Harrisburg or Chicago or even SoCal. What I said is either add them to other bid tournaments (did not specify locations) OR make this tournament earlier. Teams from outside the East Coast attend this tournament for the same reason, because they improved throughout the year and want a chance for Open/USA. I just don't see the point of a bid tournament if registration numbers are so small that no bids will be given out (based on trickle-down), and At-Large Bids have been given out. Usually there is around 32 teams in each division at this tournament. By splitting it into two divisions, the matches will be more competitive this year than previous years. Capping open at 16 teams will be better overall for the tourney

predictions may be that LIVBC 17’s will take home the 18’s, there are not many strong teams in 18’s There will be no LIVBC 17 team in the finals. There is plenty of 18s talent. There were teams at Harrisburg that were missing players . It has been a long winter but ECC always gets teams psyched. With the small tournament, all matches will be competitive.

Does any one know the teams in the 18s division that received the "At large Bids"for Nationals?

how is that ECVC home turf, they’re not from richmond i thought? They’re not as strong as a team as TVP, TVP has a better setter and better hitters. ECVC has no setter to lead that team, which is only a little talented. Doesn't ECVC have Michael Wright setting? He is good. Also, these tournaments are only good for getting bids. Our club travels a lot and its not for bids. We got our bid in SoCal and then traveled. We travel to develop the athlete, to enjoy the sport, and to hone our competitive skills against different competition. Our boys have developed friendships with kids across the country some of whom they will play again in college. There are many reasons to travel. i respect the kids game, but he will not do well at the next level, he’s not a fundamental volleyball player. This tournament will show the true talent of the 12 qualified teams for open nationals. This will be for sure the seeding for seeds 20-36 at JO’s

Hillman or Lentin will be the starting setter for OSU next season

I would definitely say TVP should be at the top or close to at East coast championships. Also, I would look for CUVC and MVP academy to be close to the top with talent on both of those teams.

Two of those three were awarded at-large bids (Sting 16s and Rockstar 17s). It'll be interesting to see if Rockstar, in particular, chooses to travel when they have an SCVA points "at home" that weekend.

MVC has been there pretty consistently in the past years

While my gut tells me Rockstar 17's were bid hunting only, there's a counter argument: Their 16-2's weren't entered, and were also awarded an at large (to USA). That team is solid - ranked 11 in SCVA (but 2 15's above, so technically top 10) and finished 11th at JBI in 16 Open.
If the club was purely bid hunting, that team should've been registered, as well.
(the Sting like to travel: 6 teams are registered for SCVA West Coast Classic).

The 17’s and 18’s division are absolutely loaded compared to past years. With Rockstar, Bay to Bay, and MVC making the trek in an already very deep 17’s division and 12 teams already with bids in the 18’s, it should be fun. I would have to guess 0 bids will be handed out in the 18’s, 17’s could get a trickle down, but not guaranteed. Also very cool to see so many more teams in the 15’s this year. In my opinion, this will be the first year in a long time that the 16’s are the least competitive age level at East Coast, not including 14’s.

Also very cool to see so many more teams in the 15’s this year. At least 8 bid teams are competing in 15's, in a current field of 26, so trickle down can go to 10th. Vaqueros appear to be an unknown - a quick look at BANE/Chicago/Lafata/FL Fest doesn't show them competing. As a follower of the red headed step child of club v-ball (b/c my kid; and yes, I know why it's the smallest), that field size is great - by comparison, at WCC there are only 21 currently registered (I hope for a couple more, but... 10 are qualified) - point being both 'Coast Championships should be a good preview for nationals.
