So tell me, have you encountered any coaches that really made a difference to you? Like dramatically improving your skills or mental game? Or maybe outside the court, he or she impacted positively on your life in general? What did they say or do that made the difference?
The first time I was at Laguna Seca, I was scared. I had never driven on a famous track like that, and it's got a lot of things going on. I asked one of the experienced driving coaches to ride with me and help me out. He gave me a bunch of visual references for braking points and turn-ins and stuff, but the main thing he said was, "You're a good driver. Stop trying to over-think everything and just drive the car." I had so much fun that day after he said that!
